L'Entrecôte — Restaurant in Lyon

After reading the reviews, we made sure to line up at least 5-10mins before opening. We are glad we did as the queue got very long, very quickly. No reservations are allowed. We were let in promptly after this.

The server was very friendly and helped us understand the style of the restaurant as we did not speak good French apart from the very basics. The food came very quickly, about 12-15mins after ordering? There’s only 1 food in the menu and that’s the steak, sauce and fries. Keep that in mind. Before coming here.

They serve you a lettuce salad with bread as an entree. I loved the flavour and the type of dressing they used. Then came the Steak with sauce. Not sure what I was expecting with the sauce but I expected a bit more depth in the flavour, in my opinion it was a bit one dimensional. It was ok though, not bad but not amazing either. I wish the portion was also a bit bigger and the beef could be a bit more tender but it was cooked ‘medium’ evenly throughout so that was impressive. It was well seasoned. They also served unlimited fries and although it was nothing special, it was freshly cooked every time it’s served. I would say it’s similar to McDonald fries, well salted and slightly oily but I like my fries like that. Didn’t try the desserts so can’t comment on that.

Overall, I’d say, try it if you haven’t been before but don’t expect too much. It was €22 each for the steak...

First time i came here and i WILL NOT come back again. I ordered ‘ La Formula’ ( salad + steak and fries) with Medium Rare steak as the doneness of my steak. The salad came and it was good at all. When the main course came, i was shock because the meat is so thin, small and OVERCOOKED :( I called the waitress and explained her that its not the doneness of the steak that i ordered. And she called the other woman (with red uniform and with long eyelashes). She approached me on the table, i explained about my steak that is overcooked and not even MEDIUM RARE, and she tried to explain that they did not offer a steak with MR (only rare, medium or well-done) and i was like ????!!? and she just left without apologize. My concern is if you do not have MR steak why since the first time we ordered, the waiter did not mention it?! And after i complained, the waitress did not show any emphatic (even apologized). The meat was tough, dry and kind of low quality of meat (i did not even see it as a steak 🥲 it was more like a slice of meat that cut into small pieces) and also the sauce was really awful. Im so disappointed of my dinner experience here and i will not...

We came here early on a Friday evening at about 7.15pm and there wasn't a queue yet, likely due to the typically later dinnertime of the locals. Although the reviews are numerous and highly favourable, I must say that the food is average at best. The steak was slightly tough, made only better by the sauce that it was served in (which was great to be fair), and the fries were also on the oily side without much taste.

It was nice that they served two portions of beef and two portions of fries per person (fries topped up only when your plate is empty), but it doesn't discount the fact that the food quality is lacking for the price.

Service is great and efficient – the entire place appears to be a well-oiled machine which runs to turn over as quickly as possible. Only one possible menu item means all diners have a homogenous meal, and it can be rather tightly packed to ensure maximum capacity.
