Le Bistrot de Lyon — Restaurant in Lyon

An absolute аbоminаtiоn of a restaurant, and here is why: Had the unluckness to visit it the previous Monday, ending up ordering an aubergine gazpacho (don't ask me why it is not tomato), and a beef tartar. Well, to say dinner didn't go well is an UNDERSTATEMENT. The soup turned out to taste more like a bowl of fermented kefir, with pieces of poorly smashed aubergine floating all over the place, together with some random slices of cheese, nuts, and whatever else it contained. In fact, the soup was so spoiled that it even tasted sour and a bit spicy because of this carbonation already taking form inside the dish. Absolutely hоrrible, and I didn't eat more than 5 spoons. (!) BUT THEN CAME THE CLOU, THE DRAWING CARD, THE ABSOLUTE BEАST OF A DISH: THE BEEF TARTAR. You know, having received such a soup as a starter, I already had doubts about the beef's freshness, yet for some reason I decided to ignore my gut feeling on this one. WELL. TOO BAD FOR ME, I GUESS. As a result, instead of sightseeing Lyon the following, I spent the whole day rupturing my аss off in an airbnb apartment, all while having a terrible headache and body temperature exceeding 37.6 at one point. As you might have guessed, the meat was far from fresh either, causing an absolute explosion of my whole digestive tract and forcing me to practically pее with my аss. WHAT A GREAT RESTAURANT )) UWU

This place is a must go!!! The food was very traditional and delicious. It was a bit too hot in there, but the place is so nice. The best part was the service we received. I was there with several friends and one of them has too many allergies and intolerances. I mean TOO MANY, normally she does not eat out because of this. The waiter was SO nice to her, SO caring and SO compassionate. He went back and forth to the kitchen at least 7 times to make sure they could deliver without her having any issues. The cook was also so nice to us since not only he made a plate that didn’t exist on the menu, he even took it one step further and prepared a special side only for her, making sure there was no contamination of any kind. And they delivered, she had no reaction to anything, something that is almost impossible for her!!! Seriously, we need more people like them...

Exceptional establishment in every way. Coming from an avid foodie and a food writer, I do not give out compliments that easily. The decor is magnificent, the staff professional, friendly and completely up for some humour and the food was divine. We were a table of 6 on Christmas Day and not the easiest table to handle for sure. We had the Christmas set menu which was delicious from beginning to end and also presented very good value for money. Our main waitress Théa was a total gem, un tésor as they say in French, her lovely humour, her smiling face and incredible patience with our antics was truly commendable. She truly made our Christmas lunch very special. Bravo to Théa and to all the staff and most naturally to the management of this Lyonnais jewel of a place. Keep it up, you were by far our best...
