Merle Huîtres et Coquillages — Restaurant in Lyon

I have going there for over 15years i am from Brisbane Australia I do food tours i am originally from lyon the oysters are best you could ever eat this time around i had made a booking a week before for 7 people and also confirmed that that I was running late 30 minutes .when I got there I was told that they don't take bookings so why did you take the booking? I was told that I had to wait for a table when the time came the waitervtold me that he will only give me one small high table and not 2 for 7 of us 3 doz oyster 2 doz Snails 1 bowl of prawns 1 bowl of sea Snails 5 pot de macon blanc Delivered no bread no butter had to ask for everything got treated like absolute sh.it worst experience ever i will never eat an other oyster from them again so sad disgraceful behaviour thanks for nothing there need for a reply enough french arrogance...

Surprised to find we could have oysters and wine before noon. When in France.

We sat at the bar. There's an english menu. Servers were accommodating. Oysters were fresh as was the bread and butter. The menu is generally focused - not variety but quality. They said Utah beach were the best oysters so we tried. They were very good. Have never had such meaty oysters before. There is a categorization system in the menu which separates the oysters by size. The big ones are really a nice treat. Also had half a St. Marcellin cheese - very strong flavour and so creamy.

Besides the food, the magic here is the atmosphere. Feels very real. Lots of older locals pulling up a chair to eat, have a chat with the servers and go...

Oysters Heaven in Lyon!

While waiting for the hotel rooms, we headed to have a late lunch at Merle Huîtres et Coquillages. So busy Saturday afternoon that we needed to wait for the table. The seafood market vibe was just fabulous!

We ordered 2 dozens of Gillardeau Oysters, and other shellfish menus- snails, and mussels. Fresh aroma and mineral flavor Sancerre to accompany iodized oyster was absolutely perfect. They were so so so good that we couldn’t finish without trying red shrimps, grey shrimps with garlic mayo. Again so yummy!
