Truely terrible experience. Was sat inside at a nice enough table. Order taken for drinks and food. No water offered. Then a waiter came back to say they didn’t have the ingredients for the cocktail (from their own signature cocktails selection) and asked if I would like an old fashioned instead and I asked what whisky it would be which he didn’t know (bad sign) so I asked if he could make a Manhattan. He said of course and off he went. When the drink came back to the table it was a full tumbler of a shaken drink with froth at the top and a huge piece of orange floating on top. I told the staff this was not a Manhattan and they just took it away without saying anything and no offer of another drink. When the entree came up it was zucchini flowers that were lovely with a great herby sauce and fresh savoury cream product. Then, unfortunately came the mains…the crayfish ravioli in a lobster sauce was terrible with the pasta far too thick and the sauce totally overpowering of the filling. The second main was the entree of beef tartare. Oh my goodness I have never had a product that so closely resembled dog food. It was like minced beef texture but somehow even smoother and was totally overpowered by the tomato and mustard and you simply could not taste the beef. When the staff cleared the plates they said nothing about the 3/4 full tartare dish. They are not at all bothered if you enjoy the meal or not as we were never asked if we enjoyed anything and the bill was left on our table with no one to collect it. Charged to the hotel so will likely be bringing it up with management on checkout. Very poor. Given the competition in Nice there’s no reason to take a chance here,...
Read moreThis is a difficult review to write -- this place has such potential. The location is incredible, and the menu has great stuff on it. But the management is just a mess, and everything suffers as a result.
We were staying in the hotel. The first night we arrived, we visited this restaurant. We were given a table with a lovely view of the sea. There was a soft breeze and the sun was setting. We studied the menu, and found a cocktail with both love: A basil smash! Perfect, right?
No one ever came back to get our order. There were three employees rushing about, and no one ever seemed to have time to take our order. After 45 minutes, we gave up and left.
The second night we got a reservation -- maybe this would ensure that we were not an after thought? On our reservation we asked for a table outside, but when we arrived we were given a table inside.
(Justice where it is due: The woman who seated us and waited on our table was perfect: friendly and efficient.)
The food was uniformly mediocre. The cocktails were inconsistent -- we ordered the same drink twice and the second one was completely different from the first.
After our meal, we went to the front to pay. The man working the cash register was easily the most simple-minded person I have ever spoken to. He had no record of our meal, so we recited it for him. Several times. He tried to repeat it back to us several times, but it was incorrect every time. We even wrote it down for him. Eventually he entered several incorrect items into the computer, but assured us that the total would be the same.
We paid and left,...
Read moreWe went to this terrace to have a drink because we wanted to see the sunset from there of the city, which by the way has spectacular views of the promenade, we ordered two drinks, an aperol alone and a glass of wine, it is the second time I have had an aperol, I didn't know that It can be mixed and/or taken only when they bring us the bill we see on the receipt that they have not been charged incorrectly because we had seen the price before on the menu, we proceeded to call the waiter to tell him that there was an error, the hotel (the staff) Both the waitress and the manager told us to our faces that we had lied, that if we didn't know what we had ordered, calling a customer a liar is a lack of respect and it was what bothered us the most. We asked for a claim form and it was denied. They had it when we searched online and it clearly said if the establishment doesn't give it to you, call the police, something we didn't want to do because it seemed disproportionate to us when the simplest thing was to redo the invoice but our mistake was that we had already paid, so as not to To lengthen the story, in France they have to learn to treat a customer, there is no customer service, I will never return to this hotel or terrace again and if you go, be careful, check carefully what you order, emphasizing it with the waitress and then before paying, check your account. see you never staff...
