We had pre-booked, so were not just accommodated as a walk-in. This restaurant had good reviews and came recommended, but we were on a short holiday and there's only so much research that can be done beforehand. Our visit was an extremely disappointing experience on many counts. There were far too many tables crammed into the space available and although the front of the premises was open, it was stiflingly hot (one inadequate fan just blew hot air around). Our table was of woefully inadequate size so didn't accommodate what was required to fit on it. All tables were the same size (supposed to seat two), with multiples being placed together for 4, 6 and so on - not in itself a problem as long as the table for two is an adequate size in the first place, which these were not. These elements alone made it an uncomfortable and far from relaxing venue. With hindsight, we should not have stayed to order (our mistake) but having booked, we felt obliged to stick it out. Two salads were ordered, one smoked salmon, the other parma ham. The smoked salmon was edible, but unremarkable; the Parma ham was mostly edible but nowhere near the good quality expected. Tomatoes seemed to major in both descriptions, lovely we thought, but they were huge, underripe tomatoes cut into wedges, totally lacking in flavour, so none were eaten (despite the menu stating that the tomatoes on the salmon salad would be small ones). The green element, was an assortment of small tasteless, leaves that no one had thought it necessary to de-stalk (of which there were many) also, the olives that were mixed in to the leaves had stones still in them - and there was no warning of this. No one came to check whether the meal was OK after it was served and we had the distinct impression that they wanted to push through as many people as possible as quickly as possible - and as they were close to a tourist area, they could probably be confident of being busy without caring whether anyone would return. To be fair, when the waiter came to clear the plates he did ask whether the meal was OK - although that was a bit pointless as half of it was still on the plate!! We said not good, we expected better, settled the bill and swiftly exited. In posting this review, we hope to save others from a most unsatisfactory experience (had to select a star rating so chose the lowest, otherwise it would...
Read moreWe ate here last Sunday at lunchtime during the Carnival. It was nice and relaxed and not full. We found the staff from the moment we walked in the door very attentive and welcoming. They allowed us to bring our dog too. He even got his own bowl of water. ( & Lots of caresses) We enjoyed all the dishes we tried. Everything was fresh and cooked to order.... especially the two dishes of octopus that we sampled. This restaurant is authentic Italian without being fussy. Great flavours and not over seasoned. My meat was cooked to perfection....juicy and full of flavour. Even though we were already full, we had desserts too. The Tiramisu was a classic, properly made. And I adored the Italian "tarte au citron"....which was very different to the french version, it had grated apple in it. The taste was fab so much so I had to track down a version of this dessert online! I'm so going to try replicate it. Both of us are foodies and when we dine out we appreciate good food, you won't be disappointed by eating...
Read moreWe take one kind of pizza that was good... But the meat was very bad. The person who took the order didn't even ask how I want the meet to be done.... And the meat arrived almost raw... But the biggest problem was that half of the piece of meat was only nerves and was impossible to cut or to eat... I told the issue to one of the guys who worked over there... But he said that the meat is very good... That are not nerves and is only fat.... At that point I understood that I don't have any reason to continue the discussion. I will never come...
