Menu looked appealing although prices seemed a bit high. We ordered the grilled steak and octopus and a carafe of red wine. Grilled steak was a good size but half of it was fat and inedible. Octopus was a decent size and cooked well. Also ordered the chocolate mousse which the waiter recommended. Overall food was decent but again the price value was not worth it. If the steak was not 40% fat it would have been better.
What was quite disappointing was their credit card reader was equipped with an additional step to include a percentage tip on top of the bill. This was one of the only places that required that additional step. And yes, we were not required to add gratuity but the instructions on the machine was in French and could not easily translate. The waiter stood there and explained that it was for a tip. I thought European culture eschews tipping culture!?! For this reason alone, I would not return or recommend...
Read moreAMAZING, AMAZING, AMAZING!!!! We were first greeted by a very nice, smiley woman, who was kind enough to let us dine though they were booked. Every single person who waited on us was super nice. The standout as mentioned was the woman who never stopped smiling and took the time to explain each of the specials to us in detail in English (their regular menu was translated, but their specials were not). Another kind server helped my husband in selecting a sweet wine and yet another kind man came by to refill our wines, all smiles. All wonderful. And the FOOD! I got a venison steak in a pumpkin purée with a vegetable. It was PERFECT! My husband got a veal, vegetable and gnocchi dish. It was also delicious and the gnocchi was miles better than anything we had in Italy. We also got a lemon meringue pie that was to DIE for. Like I said, if you are in Nice, YOU...
Read moreVisited Restaurant Dante on a Wednesday evening following the great reviews. We (2 adults and 1x 16 & 1x 11) were greeted with a very warm welcome and immediately shown to a table. The restaurant itself has a lovely vibe with the decor and music which added to the atmosphere. Between us we had a the of beef ribs, homemade Ravioli and Sea Bass Risotto. None of us were disappointed with our meals. There was a real emphasis on local produce, even the beer was from a local brewery in Nice! The host's were excellent and very informative, they took the time.out to give guidance not only on the meal but also around our visit to Nice. Would recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed! Can't wait to return next time we are in Nice. (Hopefully sooner than 16 years!) Thanks to all at...
