La Curry is a highly rated Indian restaurant located near the promenade, but my experience left me wondering why it's so popular. Here’s a detailed review of my visit:
Food Quality: The food at La Curry was disappointing. I ordered the Palak Paneer, which was just passable - nothing memorable. The Chicken Tikka Masala, however, was a letdown; it was overly sour and salty, giving the impression that it might have been hastily prepared from a packet rather than cooked fresh. - ★★☆☆☆
Service: The service did not help matters. It seemed to be managed by untrained assistants who struggled to provide the standard of service expected at such a highly rated venue. This aspect of the dining experience could definitely use some improvement. - ★★☆☆☆
Location: The restaurant’s location is its one redeeming feature, conveniently close to the lively promenade, making it easily accessible for tourists and locals alike. - ★★★★☆
Menu Variety: Though I didn't explore the full menu, it seemed that other establishments in the area might offer a more extensive and appealing selection. - ★★★☆☆
Overall Experience: While the restaurant is popular among tourists, possibly due to limited local options or less familiarity with authentic Indian cuisine, it certainly didn't live up to my expectations based on its ratings. Those familiar with genuine Indian flavors might find La Curry lacking. - ★★☆☆☆
In conclusion, while La Curry enjoys a favorable location, the food quality and service prevent it from being a recommendable choice for those seeking authentic and well-prepared Indian cuisine. There are better options available that promise a more satisfying...
Read moreWe went here after craving Indian food and basing it on the good reviews. The atmosphere was okay and after we asked to turn up the heating we felt a bit more comfortable. The service was okay, it took a little while in the beginning but it was friendly.
We ordered a menu (1 entree, a main and rice). Since rice is not included and we wanted samosas it sounded like a good deal. They didn’t tell us before however that everything then comes at half a portion. We got 2 instead of the described 3 samosas and also the main course and the rice were tiny. Maybe this makes sense if you order a more expensive main course, but since we got a vegetarian option it was only 1.50€ we saved. If we had known before we would have just ordered the normal portions separately. They did change the portions after being asked which is nice but the food however was very disappointing.
Food: The palak paneer was really weird, not much flavor, it was sweetish and the cheese wasn’t paneer and not good at all. The sauce also had a very artificial green color and taste. The rice was bland and the cheese naan was filled with a spreadable fake cheese, not authentic at all with no butter or herbs.
Also at the end we left the whole paneer because we couldn’t eat it, and when they took our plates away they didn’t ask if we liked the food. We don’t like leaving bad reviews and we would have rather told them in person but since we weren’t asked how we liked it we didn’t feel like it was our place at the time to do so.
Ps: the mango lassi...
Read moreTaking in to account the rave reviews and ratings we decided to visit this restaurant For us it was a very disappointing experience On entry into the restaurant, the decor is a slap in the face with flower garlands everywhere, they tried to make it Indian but failed. Ordered our food with a waiter who didn’t understand the food we ordered. We were given a couple of (free entrée) soggy balls which were drizzled with some free sauce… we were told it was a potato cutlet but wasn’t…..these it seems were heated in a microwave..they were ok, nothing special. Our order of onion bahji arrived… still a bit soggy and undercooked in the middle, but tasty We ordered popadoms which were late to arrive, overcooked and very oily so sent them back. Our main order of chicken saag was boiled pieces of chicken mixed with what was meant to be spinach but wasn’t… it was a very runny green sauce!!! The naan bread was made with chappati flour so wasn’t a naan, and regular rice. All in all a very disappointing experience from start to finish The menu is limited, only a couple of dishes in each section (lamb, chicken etc and for an Indian restaurant “no daal” on the menu. Would I go...
