Il Capriccio — Restaurant in Nice

I have been a spaghetti carbonara lover since before it was a common menu item and I'm always on a search for a good version of it (and I find most versions are just "ok"). We stayed in wonderful Menton for 4 nights and I only wish I had come here sooner than the last night. This was possibly the best I've ever had! For once the pancetta/guanciale/pork was cooked to perfection. The flavor was incredible. My wife had a fantastic pizza and we shared a nice bottle of wine. It was a rainy evening and we sat outside in their sidewalk seating, but there was a nice see through covering and heaters, so the atmosphere was wonderful as the rain hit the cover above us. Frankly one of the worst experiences ever. You'll be waiting for your food for at least 40 minutes, and at the end you'll get something which is not edible at all. Pasta with ricotta and pistachios is absolutely to be avoided. Pasta nel forno is not any better. The first idea that comes to your head when you see it, is that it is something that was prepared days ago and was just warmed in an oven. The staff as well as the chef do not want to try their own dishes to start speaking the same language with the client. We are a group of 4 people. We ordered 2 pizza and 2 pastas. Overall the pastas are okay, but one pizza was totally burnt. The bottom of the pizza looks like coal from the grill. We asked for a new one to pack to go, however the waiter gave us the same burned pizza wrapped in the aluminum. Ask for the reason, was replied:" kitchen closed" .We argue with the owner of the restaurant and wanted to have an explanation for this. However, she speaks only Italian but did say in english, that pizza is normal. i have been to Italy, obviously nobody eating fully burned bottom pizza. would not recommend the place to anyone.
