La Plage, located within Terminal 1 of Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, offers a pleasant and comfortable setting for travellers looking to relax before a flight. The interior is thoughtfully designed with a breezy, coastal charm that reflects the Côte d’Azur lifestyle – bright, airy, and inviting. Whether you're alone or with company, it's a cosy space that allows you to unwind while enjoying a view of the terminal buzz from a peaceful distance.
The ambience certainly deserves praise: soft lighting, clean seating areas, and attentive, polite staff contribute to a generally enjoyable atmosphere. It’s a great spot to spend some time without the sense of rush that’s often typical in airport eateries.
However, when it comes to the food, expectations should be tempered. While the menu presents itself attractively, the dishes served feel somewhat underwhelming. Much of what arrives at the table seems pre-prepared or frozen, quickly heated and assembled rather than freshly made. It’s not that the food is unpleasant or inedible – it’s perfectly fine for satisfying basic hunger – but it lacks the finesse and flavour one might hope for, particularly in a French setting. In short, it’s more functional than memorable.
That said, if your priority is a calm, tastefully decorated space to sit, sip a drink, and recharge, La Plage does its job well. It’s a far cry from fast-food chaos and definitely a more refined option within the airport. Just don’t expect a gourmet experience – it’s more about comfort and convenience than culinary delight.

This is not a restaurant, this is a bar with a microwave which chooses to charge almost thirty euros for disgusting platters and 'specials' prepared hours or days before far away from the location and ineffectively heated up for service. Inside the terminal go to Pret for much better and cheaper food, while Chez Pipo is much less expensive for alcoholic beverages.
I ordered a chicken breast in olive stew with polenta at the ordering point; this cost twenty-nine euros. Being informed that I would need to pick up my food from the same location, I watched without seeing any progress for 20+ minutes. On returning, I saw a dish at the far end of the bar in position totally obscured from where I had been seated and was told that it had been out 'for a while'. How could I possibly have known? Asking after the sandwich I had also ordered for my friend, I watched this being taken from a cupboard below an industrial microwave and being heated up for thirty seconds. This 200g sandwich cost a further sixteen euros and was totally inferior to anything outside of something from a vending machine left alone for a month.
Having collected my own food, I found a stone-cold chicken breast swimming in a painfully-hot-to-the-touch and violently yellow brine in a small casserole while a pot of polenta sat forlornly beside it. The polenta was cold enough to have recently exited a fridge from top to bottom, with a thick skin on top reminiscent of an oversized foot callus.
I have never been more glad not to have eaten and hope only that this stain on the french nation soon...
Read moreWorst place I’ve ever been. There isn’t much choice in terminal 1 for food but this place looked promising as it was upstairs and a bit quieter. We waited 10 minutes to get in, loads of tables full of dirty plates not being cleared away for us to sit down and it was not busy. Not much choice on the menu and it’s ridiculously expensive for what it is, I know it’s an airport but it’s just a tourist trap. I wanted to order a burger and just simply asked for there to be no tomatoes on the burger or sauce. He said this cannot be done as there supposedly busy and it’s to much of a hassle. Which he was very rude when I asked why. So instead I had to order something else and went with the octopus which was the most disappointing meal I’ve ever had. It was €35 euros for one leg of octopus cut into 6 slices on top of some weird sauce. The portion size was disgraceful for €35 euros. I did not want to make more of a fuss and ask for my meal to be taken back as I honestly didn’t think I could get anything else better. Do...
