I can see a lot of negative reviews which sound a bit unfair on this restaurant, which dare I say some of the negative reviews sound like they are from tourists, (I am also English but live in Nice (my wife is French)), so this review is to help tourists really.
Firstly, I've seen negative reviews about the cost of water, it does sound expensive at 7.50 a bottle but it is completely normal in every French restaurant to ask for a 'carafe d'eau', which is completely free and not at all frowned upon like in UK to order a 'jug of water'.
Secondly, it's the same in every restaurant but it does always seem to take a while to get the bill and then pay by the card machine - literally, every restaurant in France. They like to allow you to sit and enjoy your time after the meal and don't rush you out like they do in UK. Sometimes, I find it useful to go to the bar to pay for the bill and that is completley fine and acceptable and I think actually appears to be helpful to the restaurant.
So as I said before, it does seem very unfair to give a negative review just to this restaurant, for these reasons.
Re the negative review about being forced to tip, we wasn't and never have been. Tipping is not mandatory by the way, it's not 10% or 20% like some other countries, 1 or 2 euros per person is completley fine and just says a small thank you to your server, which would be appreciated. I'm not being stingy when I say this, my wife, family and friends (who are French) all do the same and could be seen as weird when you try to give more, although of course this would be appreciated by your server, so you can decide.
As for this particular restaurant, I found it great, live piano music whilst we sat to enjoy our meal outside on a summer evening, was lovely and a big surprise for my birthday meal arranged very last minute. Mussels and fries is also one of my favourite dishes and it was very good here. I would recommened.
Sorry long review but I thought it seemed unfair about these negative comments. I hope above is helpful and hope you enjoy Pizza Rina as...
Read moreWe ate here after our kids needing something to eat and not being able to wait any longer until we found the perfect restaurant. We never normally eat at a restaurant that has no customers but could not wait in this instance.
We were sat in an outside table and when we asked to be seated inside due to being sat in a smoking section an older waiter rudely told my wife that you can smoke everywhere in France. His opinion was later evidenced by the ash tray sitting at the counter inside the restaurant. In retrospect i would tell this waiter that it is illegal to smoke both inside his owners restaurant and in the undercover outdoor area in France.
We ordered Paella which was very basic without chorizo, saffron or garnish. It was also overpowered by the amount of tumeric added. Not enjoyable.
I was sure they had not given me the wine I ordered (it was a very dark pinot noir) and my wife was charged 13 euro for her two glasses of prosseco (listed as 10 euro on the menu).
My two daughters ordered pizza and we saw the pizza boxes being delivered from somewhere else, coming in the front door.
The older waiter after we had asked to pack my younger daughters pizza flung the plate at the younger waiter launching a piece of pizza off the plate onto the ground.
At the end of the meal we were asked for a tip, which is the first in France.

Read moreTogether with 6 other persons, I recently dined at this place, unfortunately, it was not a pleasant experience. While the food was decent and the space was comfortable, the service left much to be desired.
The most frustrating part of the evening was when one of our main dishes was simply forgotten. The rest of us were served, and our companion had to wait a full 20 minutes, only receiving this meal when the rest of us had already finished eating. When the bill arrived, we were shocked to see that the forgotten dish was still included without a word of acknowledgment from the staff.
We politely pointed out the issue, suggesting that a simple gesture like offering a coffee or removing the dish from the bill would have been appropriate. Instead of understanding our frustration, the waiter argued with us, despite our calm and reasonable approach. In the end, we paid the full amount to avoid making a scene, but we did express that this kind of service is not acceptable.
We had seen some poor reviews before visiting and now regret not heeding the warnings. Sadly, here’s another one to add to the list. We won’t be returning and caution others to consider their...
