避雷这个地方 I recently dined at yose, and while the food was decent, it was certainly not worth the 180 euros we spent. From the moment we arrived, we were treated differently by a man dressed in white who claimed to be the manager. This individual was extremely rude, arrogant, and dishonest, which significantly marred our dining experience.
We had made a reservation for three people a month in advance. However, when we arrived yesterday, the so-called manager claimed that our table was ready. In reality, he gave us a small, cramped table instead of a two properly set table for three. Despite there being two tables for four available, he refused to seat us there, saying they were reserved for another group of four who supposedly arrived at the same time as us. This was a blatant lie as we saw the group arrive much later.
Three people sharing a small table made it impossible to comfortably enjoy the eight courses we had ordered. I couldn’t fathom how we were expected to fit everything on such a tiny table. We expressed our dissatisfaction to a lady staff, who initially apologized and asked us to make do. After some discussion JUST between lady staff and us, she agreed to move a nearby table to accommodate us. It’s worth noting that there were three empty tables inside that could have been offered to us from the start.
The manager’s lack of professionalism and dishonesty were appalling. He falsely claimed it WAS his idea to move the table and had the audacity to suggest we hadn’t answered his call to confirm the reservation. What kind of Michelin-starred restaurant or seven-star hotel behaves this way? His attitude was not just disrespectful but outright insulting. He even went as far as to say that not answering his call meant our reservation was cancelled. SO he let 3 people who came earlier than us with no reservation to sit in 2 table next to us not giving two table to the people who have reservation for three people just because we didn’t pick up the call.If that’s the case, what’s the point of having an online reservation system? His explanation was absurd, making it seem like we, as customers, were his subordinates, obligated to answer his calls as if he were our boss.
After we finished our meal and paid the bill, we sought an explanation from the manager about our treatment. He responded with lies and disdain, showing absolutely no remorse or willingness to improve our experience. His sarcastic comments about other guests fitting around small tables and questioning why we couldn’t were incredibly rude. He implied that others had no issue confirming their reservations via phone, completely disregarding our situation and context.
Furthermore, his expectation that we should respond to his call while we were on a plane, on our way to enjoy a holiday, was utterly unreasonable. His arrogance and inability to empathize with our situation were shocking.
Spending 180 euros should have guaranteed a pleasant and memorable dining experience, but instead, the manager’s condescending remarks and lack of hospitality ruined everything. His sarcastic comments and disrespectful attitude were incredibly off-putting.
I strongly advise against any customers dining here, as this manager will undoubtedly ruin your experience. His actions and attitude are a disgrace to what should be a high-quality establishment. The lack of respect and poor customer service exhibited by this manager is unacceptable, and I hope the restaurant takes serious steps to address this issue.
In summary, while the food was acceptable, the treatment we received was far from it. The rude and dishonest behavior of the manager, coupled with the subpar handling of our reservation and seating, makes it impossible for me to recommend this restaurant to anyone. Spend your money elsewhere where you will be treated with the respect and courtesy...
Read moreAfter reading all the good reviews, I decided to visit YOSE after a few days being in Nice - I could’ve made a better decision.
From the start, the experience felt odd. When I inquired about walk-ins, the male server asked if I was someone else who had tried to make a reservation. At the time, I brushed it off, but thinking on it later, I wondered if someone else had been turned away because of a perceived resemblance. Perhaps I’m overthinking, but what followed didn’t help.
The food arrived quickly, which was nice. However, the starter and main course were served at the same time without my request or checking if it was fine with me. This left me rushing through my cold fish dish so the steak wouldn’t go too cold. The server at the time - a polite and lovely female staff member - seemed busy, which might explain the oversight. The food itself was alright: the steak was tender; the fish felt slightly over-marinated. Flavour was gentle and pleasant but I wouldn’t say it’s what I expected from a 4.7 star place. The steak’s temperature suffered, though I’m unsure if that was due to the kitchen staff or I couldn’t eat it at the best temperature.
Throughout the meal, no one checked how the food was. I don’t speak French, which may have been an inconvenience for the servers and I feel bad whenever it happens, but I noticed a gentleman across the room receiving much more attentive service while speaking English (the male server that greeted me also spoke decent English). Frankly saying, that gentleman didn’t seem particularly polite, and I couldn’t help but wonder if this disparity had something to do with him being a middle-aged white man and me being a young East Asian woman. Again, perhaps I’m overthinking, but the difference in service was hard to ignore.
I can see why this restaurant gets such high praise - it has potential for an enjoyable dining experience. Unfortunately, it just didn’t deliver for me. If wasn’t for the service, I would...
Read moreUpdate: my husband is my husband, and I am an individual person and not my husband’s belonging. I can have my opinion towards a restaurant without having to feel the same as he does. And this reply just further proved my point. The beef was really light pink in reality, like I said, in between medium rare and medium.
An arrogant place. The staff were arrogant. No doubt that the starters were pretty good. We had a ceviche of mixed seafood, and a tuna tartare I believe. For entries we had a beef and a veal. We asked for a medium rare and both were over cooked. When we mentioned it, they are like veals are like this maybe you don’t like veal? Well, I do like veal that’s why I ordered it. This is the first time I got a veal that’s hard to chew. Not to mention other places around the world, but the other places in Nice that I went to had better cooked veals. Maybe it’s the cooking skills to be blamed.
And don’t get me started on the beef, as that’s a more common dish around the world. It’s cooked in between medium and medium rare - not the juice, tender beef we expected as everywhere else would. We don’t need the dishes to be changed since we didn’t want any hassle, and we were fine, until the bad attitude, or should I say the arrogant attitude.
I wanted to try out some fusion dishes and took my husband here, and now I felt sorry for my husband since it was a bad experience. If you are fine with being doubted on your personal preference on food,...
