Oddly Google didn't show us this restaurant in our searches nearby, but we stumbled upon it as we wandered the streets of the 9 arrondissement near our hotel.
The clean, elegant exterior is the perfect cover to this wonderful intimate experience as small and tight as all hidden gems are, Ardent uses every square inch to ensure the experience is enjoyed by as many as possible, even having seats on a ledge overlooking the stairs to the bathroom!
We were intrigued by the wood fired grill and the emphasis of this cooking throughout the menu. Guillaume our amazing, kind, funny server was our guide and he was equally as comfortable in french as he was in English, his English almost better than ours at times!! If there was ever a time where service took a review from a 5 to a 6, this was the one.
We started with the grilled focaccia with vegetable medley (the grill adding just the right amount of crunch and flavor) and went to the grilled veal, sold by the 100g. He coaxed us to 450g and thank god he did..we finished it and fought over the bone.
Dessert was a chocolate mousse with pomelo gelato and brown butter caramel. The perfect ending to the perfect dinner.
Thank you Guillaume, and we hope you like the museum...
Read moreI had dinner at ardent last Saturday. Even though we booked late, we were given a lovely spot in a cosy little corner! The team were extremely kind and all showed great English proficiency! Ardent is all about fire; everything here is cooked on a wildfire grill which gives a smoky and surprising taste to the dishes. I had monkfish with truffle to start and we then shared a veal rib with some truffle on top! The kitchen offered a lovely range of sides to go with it. The meat from the Chateauneuf farms was extremely tender and the cooking was on point. The wine list was extremely full with some affordable gems which the waitress helped us pick out. I was extremely full with the generous portions but the deserts looked too good to ignore! We got smoked chocolate with black pepper ice cream and a poached pear with hazelnut ice cream: both were as original as they were delicious. We had an amazing time and I would definitely recommend this place. We had a magical night. Thank you Ardent....
Read moreWhat a great find. The restaurant is a great location, you can go to many of the cafe's for drinks before and after a meal. What was really shocking was that for €25 price tag wherein you can have a 3-course meal consisting of an entrée, plat and dessert. That is a steal in Paris, especially for this caliber of a meal. The service is EXCELLENT.
All the dishes were good, but some stood out from the rest: the octopus, the tuna, and the red bell pepper ice cream were EXCELLENT. I have one major complaint, with all the staff they had in the kitchen, there's NO excuse for not changing out our utensils between the entrée and the plats. I thought it was just us because we were the only Americans, but it turned out that they did this for everyone. Not good in my book. I lower their overall rating, cause of the utensils issue.
Would we...
