Whenever we go on a trip, we always save down the best third wave/specialty coffee shops we can find before lift off. I saved down dozens of coffee shops in Paris and we visited most of them.
As we were walking around the Marais we stumbled across Artesano by complete accident and decided to give it a try. The barista (and owner) was beyond kind and made the best cortados we had in Paris by far, which is quite a testament to owner, given that this shop had only been open for a mere couple of weeks. He clearly has a passion for coffee and design. The shop itself is small and minimal, yet thoughtfully designed with white walls and simple frames. You cant help but walk in and want to sit down and relax while sipping on some delicious coffee.
I am kicking myself that I wasnt able to go a second time during our short stint in Paris, but rest assured, when we come back to Paris, our morning walk will undoubtedly start...
Read moreThe location is nice and the coffee and frothed milk were nice, but although it was my own order I immediately regretted getting the drink with cinnamon and honey. The honey was liquid honey from the store and didn't mix with the rest of the drink. The other thing I didn't really like was that when an Italian tourist who had bought drinks asked the owner after consuming the drinks for a glass of water, the owner pretended not to understand the tourist in question until the tourist finally suggested buying the cup of water and was charged one Euro for tap water. This isn't how we do things in France and honestly it feels like taking advantage. Also I found the drinks overpriced. I know the coffee is roasted by the owner and like I said the frothed milk is great, I just still find the price one Euro or so too high especially for the rather cold welcome from...
Read moreI ordered in French, and was responded to in English (I was clocked as a native English speaker immediately). The person taking my order was so preoccupied talking to someone else that, when he overcharged me for my drink, I didn’t feel I could interrupt him to correct him. I did feel the overcharge was intentional, though I suppose it could have been because he was so busy paying attention to something else. There is only one drink on the menu at the price he charged me, and it’s not similar to the one I ordered.
The drink was fine, but there were no napkins so I cleaned up after myself with my own facial tissue.
The interaction made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was surprised to read so many positive reviews of great customer service. I hope my experience is not the norm, but I won’t...
