A Disappointing Birthday Dinner – Beautiful Place, Poor Experience
I had high hopes for celebrating my mum’s birthday here, especially with the restaurant’s stunning decor. The atmosphere is indeed beautiful, and the food is acceptable, though rather bland. But the night was marred by an uncomfortable table arrangement and surprisingly rude service.
The Table Near the Door - A Design Flaw
We were seated just two meters from the front door, where a constant stream of cold air made our dinner uncomfortable. In a restaurant of this caliber, tables directly by the entrance simply shouldn’t exist. It’s not fair to expect guests to endure a draft for an entire meal, and prioritizing seating quantity over comfort feels inappropriate for a place with this price tag.
Unhelpful and Rude Hostess
When we asked to switch tables, the hostess curtly informed us that nothing else was available – despite many visibly free tables. She didn’t offer to move us if a better spot opened up and, shockingly, suggested that we could leave if we didn’t like it. As a hostess, creating a welcoming environment is part of the role, yet she approached it with a level of disdain that was honestly off-putting.
She’s a hostess; she’s supposed to welcome guests, be polite, and make them feel comfortable. That’s literally her job. Instead, she walked around with an angry, stray-dog expression, acting as if she were “Pam, the owner of the house .” All she did was bark orders. Girl, calm down—you’re just an employee, not in the most demanding or challenging role. I have never encountered a hostess so unprofessional and impolite in my life. The hostesses at Hotel Costes are angels compared to her.
Endless Door Drama
Throughout the dinner, the door remained open, and I repeatedly had to get up to close it myself. My mum even ate with her coat on. For a restaurant that just opened, these lapses in staff attentiveness and courtesy are concerning.
Beautiful Venue, But Not Worth the Return
It’s disappointing, as I had considered this place for a future wedding brunch. Now, after this experience, I wouldn’t go back. Our waiter, however, was genuinely kind and tried his best to improve our experience.

Read moreSunday Lunch in this grand mansion. The classic architecture is ofcourse the focal point and the main attraction of Baronne. Some effort has been put I to the place, but it overall feel a bit like a fake decor. Things like fake green plants and cheap fabric throughout, makes it look like a temporary scene with a tight budget. If you manegae to get eye contact with the hostess, you are lucky. Please, Paris Society, get someone qualified to do the job. However, once arrived on to the dining room, we were greeted by a smiling and very welcoming waitress ( I should have asked for her name, because most of the other waiters were without smiles : ( The apparent manager acted the same way. So even if the food was ok, our experience left us unimpressed, and we will be likely to go back only to enjoy the beautiful garden sometime in spring. 5* for the bread and butter! So overall, go there for the the experience of the mansion, food that is average and overpriced, and hopefully you will be served by our...
