This place was a major disappointment. Simply put, Les Artizans is one of those restaurants pretending to be something special, but it isn't. Let me count the ways -- first, we had reservations, but were provided with inferior seating jammed up against a glass windbreak where the room temperature was like 28C or more (in October no less!). Second, unlike in even the lowliest Paris restaurant, we were never served or even offered water. Thirdly, our waitress took our order, but then returned later to report that one item was now unavailable (already? at only 700pm?). In response my companion chose a substitute dish -- the sudden unavailability of a menu item may have been tolerable, but then my companion's dishes both arrived together while my own meal was still nowhere in sight. That left us in the awkward position of my companion not wanting to begin eating when I had nothing of my own to eat, so her grilled prawns sat and got cold while I tried to get the wait staff's attention as to where my missing entrecote was. Eventually after a bit of glaring at the staff on my part my entrecote showed up, but when it was served there was no staff interaction with us about their screw-up, no apology, no nothing -- the message being that they couldn't care less. I paid 70+ euros for this? I've had better service from street vendors. The food was also nothing special -- you can get the same type of meal up the street at Le Compas or La Grappe for less money with triple the level of service from people who actually appreciate your patronage. My prediction is that Les Artizans will not be in business a year from now. I certainly won't...

My husband and I went here on our last night in Paris, at the recommendation of our concierge. We were looking for a French restaurant that:

  1. wouldn’t be booked out same day
  2. would be around €30-40pp including drinks
  3. was walking distance from our hotel
  4. was casual yet nice enough to dress up for if we felt like it.

Our concierge immediately thought of this place and told us about it as if it were his own secret. It was obvious that he personally loved it.

An hour later, we walked in with a reservation made 30 min prior. The ambiance was perfect and exactly what we were hoping for. It’s cozy & hip, rustic & modern all in one. The service was warm, friendly and personal (and English-friendly); we ordered a pot of wine, one set meal (le menu carte), and one plat total, all to share... which I think is perfect portion-wise for two people.

The food we ordered was truly some of the best we’ve ever had. For our entree (appetizer) we ordered the veal’s head with escargots. Mind-blowing. Left me speechless. Our main courses were the lamb shoulder confit and the semi-cooked sirloin. Again, both were delicious and truly exceptional. The only thing not over-the-top-incredible was, funny enough, the dessert—though still very good, the cheesecake with rice/speculoos crust wasn’t something I would pick again.

We both left so happy and saying to each other that we would 100% return the next time we come to Paris... and probably order the exact...

Fin à 22h15/30 (resa a 20h15). Même la SNCF a...

We made reservations for 10:15, arrived early, and were seated about five minutes after our reservation upstairs. While downstairs looks very clean and chic, upstairs seems to have haphazard tables and chairs seated too close together with a lack of ambiance or similar decoration to the lower level. We were greeted immediately and the staff were very friendly. However, once we were deposited at our table, no one came to assist us until about 15-20 minutes later, providing the food menu and an incomplete wine list. Our waiter was, again, very kind but clearly overwhelmed and seemed unfamiliar with both the wine list and the components of the items on the menu itself (for instance, saying the Caesar salad (€24.50?) was lettuce and nothing more). Moreover, the prosecco provided was next to entirely flat when delivered. Furthermore, upon receiving our requested tap water, the bottle is cracked and has hair or fabric on it. The menu seems exquisite, but the pricing is inflated significantly. The timing of everything supposedly was impacted by the evening of our visit (NYE), however, as depicted, the restaurant is not fully booked so I remain confused as to why there were continuous delays. It seems as though the ownership changed about a month ago, according to other reviews, so perhaps they are in flux and figuring things out.

I went to this during a short stint in Paris. We went with my friends for Valentine's Day dinner. They have a ground floor that was full so we were sent upstairs. They had some cancellations so we were set-up in what basically was a private dining room. The ambiance was amazing and the service was great. They would check on us so many times to make sure everything was going well. They have a good selection of wine for wine amateurs. The food was good. I am slightly biased against French cuisine but I was able to finish the Magret de Canard. After the meal, we had deserts. They had a beautiful selection of deserts that were all absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend checking out when out that way.
