I wanted and tried to like this place. It’s a great location with an appealing look (interior design and overall branding). But it’s poorly managed in a variety of ways. First, it was freezing (March visit), and this was evident by every patron choosing to keep their coat on throughout their meals. I asked if the heat could be turned up, and later the table next to us did too. I don’t think it ever was, which made for a very uncomfortable time. Second, it took close to 15 minutes from being seated (for a reservation) for someone to stop by the table. This might be in part to pretty rigid reservation time slots where everyone arrives at the same time. It is a small place, it is by no means unmanageable by someone with serving experience. The staff working were in a state of chaos and transmitted that feeling. I was not able to order a second glass of wine despite finishing my first before the main dish arrived, because no one checked and no one was looking to see if something was needed. It would really benefit from hiring a person in the hospitality industry. I wondered to myself if it opened very recently - and if it has then OK, take this review with a grain of salt. Additionally, for Paris, it is pricey for the experience and quality. The food is below expectations for a restaurant that presents this way. The family next to us vocalized their dislike of the food to the server, and our server asked us if we disliked the food too when we paid our bill and he saw half the food still on our plate. The tables are also not arranged correctly and we had to crawl on the floor under the table to get to our seat… Total bummer, but I hope they’ll get it together. It could be nice with some...
Read moreAfter wandering the quiet streets on a Sunday evening with many cafes closed, my mother and I followed a local friend’s tip straight to this Italian spot and lucked into the very last table.
We decided on a classic carbonara (Carbobby) and the Spicy Clouds. In my mind, Italian falls into two camps, the rich, time-honored flavors of Nonna’s kitchen, and the bright, playful inventiveness of a younger generation. And here we found ourselves in the latter. The carbonara slightly too al dente for my taste, yet still enjoyable. The pizza had that refreshing lift. Though the staff seemed rushed juggling orders their warmth and attentiveness never wavered.
I noticed neighbors popping in and out with boxes of pizza in hand, and I couldn’t help but envy their ease of regular take away. Though I personally lean toward the more old-world style, this fresh approach has its own charms.
All in all, a lively neighborhood find that’s worth a stop if you’re after something bright and...
Read moreWe came here on a Friday night without reservations at 8 and there was a line up, and we just couldn’t do with 2 kids (6&10). But we made a reso for a couple nights later right at open and this meal was incredible!!!!!! We are from Canada (BC) and it was one of our top 5 pizza/pasta meals ever. We started with a salad, and got the carbobby pasta and spicy clouds pizza. We also had a tasty white negroni to start, and lovely bottle of red. The kids shared a marg pizza and fresh mango sorbet/ice cream - it was so good they begged for more but we got them a second bowl of ice cream. As per the server’s recommendation we ordered the kids’ pizza along with our starter salad as things go slowly like most meals in France. Lovely area to walk around it after. We’ll dream about this meal...
