If only I had read the reviews here before walking in...! It now all makes sense.
So a nice man outside saw us looking at the menu and tempted us in, I was hungry and thought a nice looking place in the Marais cannot be bad ! (Boy was I wrong)
We were rushed into ordering (the restaurant was half full..) then he asked if we wanted water, which I agreed to asking for table water. He then proceeds to bring a bottle of Evian. I say I wanted table water, he claims I asked for a bottle, and, having grown up in france and speaking french he was surpised that I actually could confront him about this then reluctently changed his tune. (he didn't have this problem with all the locals sitting down... and obviously just heard us speaking english and thought he'd try to rip us off... that theme continues below)
We order the food, my bavette was great, to their credit, my girlfriends Quiche was awful. As we ordered the food I asked for a glass or red and a glass of white wine, upon receiving the bill we discovered he took the liberty of 'selecting' the most expensive white, and red wine, and in the largest glass available. Now every other restaurant I have been to in France in my life would have served me a house red and white, they could have taken liberties on the size of it although they normally would still check. Overall, steak was good, quiche was awful and the waiter was incredibly rude, and I really cannot stress enough, and I hope to warn as many people as possible to stay away from this...
Read moreMy mom and I came here to have dinner, patio was cute and had a nice French ambiance. However, that is the only highlight of this restaurant. We should’ve heeded warning based on the fact that the restaurant was empty.
We started with water, and the server brought over bottled water. So I asked explicitly for tap. He seemed upset and mumbled something under his breath. He brought over the tap water and we order the smoke salmon appetizer to start. 5 mins later... he comes back asking if we are ready to order, which we explained that the salmon is what we wanted for now. He then rolled his eyes and said “That’s all?!” And walked away.
When the salmon came out we realized that we didn’t want anything else. Because it was served with white wonder bread and lacked flavour. So when we finished we asked for the bill. And this is where it gets good (translated to English).
He brings the bill and my mom says she will be paying with card which is followed by a complaint, “I now have to get the machine.” My mom says, “Oh I can go in and pay,” and he passive aggressively says, “Ugh, no I’ll get it.” When he returns he says, “In France, you are supposed to inform me first if you are paying by card, so that I know to bring the machine.” As we are leaving he states sarcastically, “By the way I really like your President (He is referring to Donald Trump)”. Here is the kicker we...
Read moreWorst experience in a while. If not ever. First of all, the people that run this show do not want to communicate in english. Only if it suits them. If not, they start speaking French straight away with an attitude. Weird given the fact that there is a huge ad at the entrance saying that english is being spoken.
Second of all our waiter, who was clearly high of cocaine given the fact he still had some leftovers on his nostril, threw our fries on the table without apologizing.
Also the food and service was beyond doubt the worst i have seen, and working in hospitality i have been around. Taking wrong orders (twice) i can still forgive, but messing up a steak more than 3 times in a timeframe of 10 minutes, is something i would not expect in a parisian restaurant. Beside that, the servers were rude, intimidating and unprofessional and overall all of the plates we received lacked seasoning. Very odd given the fact our waiter put 4 salt and pepper mills on our table.
We are going again tomorrow..... not.
And please guys, pass on this one and spend your money...
