I advise the restaurant management to take note that their waiters behave very rudely and disgustingly. We encountered complete disregard and rudeness towards us. During breakfast, we waited for about 20 minutes, while there wasn't a full seating, and it was a weekday. After our food was brought, my friend asked for another plate, and the waiter replied, "Yes, I'll bring it," but didn't bring it for 15 minutes, and the food got cold. Eventually, my friend went into the dining area and found him eating. Is it normal for a waiter to eat at 10:30 a.m. when guests are waiting for their food plates? Then he gave my friend the plate with his dirty hands, the same hands he used to eat. There was also an unpleasant situation with another waiter (bald man) in how he responded to us, making us want to leave the establishment. I asked him for a fork and he said he would come, but didn't, while later serving French guests at a neighboring table who arrived after us. I understand that in France, they don't like when people speak English, but then put up signs so only French people come to you. Finally, I asked him for the bill; he took a long time, so I personally approached him inside and politely asked, "Could I please have the bill?" He didn't answer or even look at me, which was very uncivilized of him. I will never return to this cafe and will not recommend it to anyone. P.S. We ordered Eggs Benedict with salmon, and they had a...
Read moreExhausted from my French pharmacy haul and a couple other errands, I ducked in here to have lunch without reading any reviews. The host was great - asked me where I wanted to sit - I said inside and he offered me two seats, neither of which I wanted…I said Im so sorry but I just don’t love the street, he said ah! Okay, here - and showed me the side corner by a giant window…exactly what I wanted and didn’t want to be rude and straight up ask for it. The waiter was so nice and patient with my non existent French, I had a delicious salad (and I have high salad criteria), with fries and a mocktail. The salad leaves were clean, no brown spots whatesoever and crunchy. Were they organic? I don’t know. It was as good if not better than the Cesar salads I get all the time in Cali. But the Parmesan was probably imported from less of a distance from Italy :) The mocktail was surprisingly fresh. Fries were piping hot - could have used a little more salt - like most food in Paris IMO :) I was able to enjoy my book under the sunlight protected from the street. They didn’t bother me but were an eyes glance away whenever I needed something. I loved my experience from beginning to end. Side note : the workers were running around and trying their best even though it wasn’t very crowded. You could tell they care, which is important. I hope the next diners have as super of an experience as I did. Thank you...
Read moreDiscriminatory? You be the judge. I stopped for a coffee, carrying a paper bag from the pharmacy—nothing out of the ordinary, I thought. I order, and suddenly, the waiter’s got his eye on my bag. “You can’t eat that here,” he says. I’m baffled, because, well, it’s just medicine. He insists, “No eating your croissant here.” Had to literally open up the bag and present my cold meds like it was show-and-tell just to clear my name. Quite the spectacle.
Later, when paying, I decided to bring it up. Asked if the suspicion was because I’m Indian. The bartender’s defense? He points to the guy in the back—another Indian—and says, “Of course not.” Ah yes, the classic “how could we be biased, we’ve got one of you back there” defense. Not exactly reassuring. I think I’ll explore other coffee...
