A friend of mine suggested this place so I first checked on insta what they had on the menu. I personally feel that the time for poached eggs is over (why so many restaurants in Paris have them in so many different dishes goes beyond my understanding), but the green pancakes looked really really tasty on all posts. So, as I was feeling in a sweet mood, that's what I ordered. They tasted good and I liked the overall presentation, fruits and pecan nuts. The syrup should have been served on the side. . . even though I do love sweet things, I like to adjust the measure myself. I would have preferred more fruits, less syrup. I am pretty sure that the pancakes had been prepared a while ago and micro-waved just before serving (the edges were a little too hard to be totally fresh, pancakes should be much fluffier). I still liked them and they were pretty filling. Not sure I'd order them again. Next time I would probably rather have a savoury dish like my friend's quinoa salad with avocado and chicken. It was delicious. We had ordered the bigger portion, which is huge and good to share.
The druid tea was tasty and I liked the sand-clock for the individual tea-infusion time.
The infusions. . . they're ok, just a little fancy and difficult to use. I have tasted the thyme infusion and have actually dismantled the whole twig to unleash the essential oils and flavour of the thyme.
Service is friendly, don't hesitate to ask for help if they don't serve you straight away. Once you order, it is quite fast.
Voila, all in all, I liked my visit a lot. They open late, which is great! We did see a little mouse running along the heaters, in the dark corners. . . I suppose all restaurants in Paris have them at some point, but it's obviously best not to see them and/or run...
Read moreSeason, 1 rue Dupuis, Paris Cuisine: Nouveau (A)merican Brunch Additional info: A detox brunch place similar to what you would find in NYC Atmosphere: There were 10 of us and we were seated in the upper dining area in bench style seating with a low table. It was a comfortable and very fitting for a lazy Sunday brunch with friends. Wait: As we had a large group, we had to wait for 30 minutes (which is not so terrible on a Sunday afternoon). We happily waited in a coffee shop called Fondation (which I'd be happy to go to again). Crowd: Hipster chic/Bobos who are into bio, healthier alternatives Food: Just okay. I ordered the pancakes which were ice cold (not sure if that was intentional or the servers were too lazy or slow in bringing the food to the table and the kale salad was the worst ever! Firstly, the kale was not massaged (hence it was tough) and it was drenched in too much Caesar salad dressing). I also ordered juice which I thought was a bit expensive (€6) but maybe it was the only highlight to my meal. Service: Terrible, maybe the worst experience so far in Paris. There was an angry waiter/cashier. Not sure if he behaved the same way with the other tables (but he was not very pleasant to our table). I think he is to blame for ruining the experience for all of us. The only other highlight to this brunch was the company of friends. Everything else was forgettable! I don't know if I'd go back to Season. There are more and more places like this popping up all over Paris. Perhaps the others are worth a try first and this could be a last resort if I can't find a healthy brunch place...
Read moreFamous Brunch place, judging by the line on weekends. So, we waited 45 min to get in, but unfortunately were disappointed.
The good: Prices are reasonable for Paris (bfast dishes 12-15EUR) Original variations on classic dishes (pancake with yogurt and scramble egg, "Avocado benedict" with overall good taste Good line up of drinks Cosy/modern/vibrant place with a young crowd
The bad Food is cold. I had the avocado Benedict, and while the poached eggs were well cooked they were also cold, sitting on a chilled avocado puree, and the hollandaise sauce was also cold. The whole magic of an egg Benedict is for the sauce and egg to be cold sitting on a garnish. My wife had the same problem with her pancake with egg and yogurt. Yogurt was supper cold and the eggs sloppy plated on top. So, they arrived cold. This is really a fundamental plating/kitchen rather than service but it makes the whole experience very disappointing as cold eggs are not very appealing.
Service: We ordered tea and coffee at the same time as the egg dishes. Egg dishes arrived in a reasonable time frame. But no drink! I asked after we got our food,. Still no drink. I went to the bar, and was told "We have many tickets, drinks not ready". So, we finished our food and after our plates were picked up got our drinks....
Soooo overall I see the potential of a cool brunch place at reasonable price with tasty and original dishes. But not having drinks with hot food is a pretty...
