I had a lovely evening at Le Piquet! I was welcomed as soon as I stepped up to this charming street-side café. The staff is very friendly and the food is lovely! My American palette is accustomed to more intense flavors but this is Paris! Sometimes you just want something easy and Le Piquet is just that! I ordered a cosmo because I felt like it. I have been repeatedly disappointed in this city's ability to concoct a decent mixed drink. Le Piquet delivered a delightful, no too sweet cosmo that hit the spot (I had 3!) Now the croquette de coquillette left me wanting more shellfish and flavor than cheese and pasta deep-fried in a crisp crust, but the sea bass over vegetables in a cream sauce was absolutely delicious! My server Jade was always on time and a wonderful host for my dinner on a lovely cool summer evening. I would recommend coming here for cocktails, a charcuterie board (many of my fellow patrons seemed to enjoy this) and some mild people-watching at the far end of the Eiffel Tower. Also, very popular among this crowd is the aperol spritz which is not to my taste but seems to be a local favorite. Stop by this bistrot for an enjoyable, sociable evening on Paris! The bathrooms are unisex so if you have a problem with this, grow up! Use the bathroom and enjoy a beautiful, easy-going experience at an authentic...
Read moreThe dishes were good but the service was almost non-existent, even we can say it was terrible. First, I asked the staff to give me a French menu and after more than about 10 minutes it still wasn't delivered. Then I continued to the front desk and asked once more and finally waited a second long time. Second, the waiter was rude, they knocked over a metal plate on the floor, the noise was loud but they had any apologize, the waiter acted like nothing happened, I felt surprised and it was extremely unprofessional. Finally when we were paying the bill they forced a tip, minimum ten percent, of course we paid because we had no choice. They had not given us any service but they wanted us to pay a compulsory tip. This is very unreasonable here is not the US. Last and last, none of the waiters said goodbye to us as we walked out of the restaurant even I said AU REVOIR but there NO ONE replied! It was shameful!!! This experience is really awful, we will never come...

We arrived at Le Piquet hoping for a novel experience in a beautiful city. Sometimes, you have to be careful what you ask for. Yikes.
An older member of our staff ordered the veal. Another member of our party ordered the steak. The older member of our party was given the wrong plate and did not know the difference as the waitstaff simply said "beef." As the older gentleman ordered veal, which was a baby calf he was confused and began eating the wrong meal. When he tried to ask for a new plate the waitstaff went OFF! I'm not exaggerating on saying that the waitstaff threw down our plates, and the Manager was no better.
Prepare yourself, I've had interesting service in some cities but this one was eye opening. They are true to the worst stereotypes of France.
They were an unfortunate sore thumb to a positive experience...
