Charivari — Restaurant in Paris

We were staying in Montparnasse for a few days and exploring Paris. After a day out we were heading back to our hotel and walked past this little bistro. There were quite a few customers sitting inside and out and we thought that we would have a look at their menu. There were quite a few items that took our fancy so we decided to call back for our evening meal.

We received a friendly greeting on entering Charivari and, we assume that it was our accents, were recognised as being British. We continued to use our French which was acknowledged but, where there was some confusion we were spoken to in English. We appreciated that aspect as we could understand and be understood.

We were shown to our table, drinks were brought and the menu perused. Some items had caught our interest when we had read the board earlier and we decided to give them a go. There was quite a bit of choice, some meals were standards and others were new variations. We tried a chicken dish and a fish dish which, when they arrived, looked and then tasted very good. A sweet of Crème Brulee followed which proved to be a perfect end to a simple but very tasty meal.

The last night of our honeymoon in Paris we decided to come here.

This is the best meal we have ever had. The service was amazing, quality was unmatched, and atmosphere was perfectly cozy with a touch of luxury.

The snails were the best and freshest. The porn spritz is to die for, with the wine selection being perfect for the menu. The fries with Comte & truffle were insane. If you come you must get the chicken/chorizo dish. Best dish my husband and I have ever eaten.

The one of the most delicious food in Paris I had so far. We had steak, avocado toast, and tapas board with wine.

We have been sitting outside, there is no special view but there is extra peace and quiet compared to one closer to the city center.

Service was good, but the lady always started running away when we said things to order, probably she is used to people ordering just one thing. Maybe for consideration before moving to another table she could ask “Anything else?”. Overall she was friendly and brought the food promptly as well...
