I had dinner at this cozy little restaurant with my sister. Everything was just as we wished, wonderful French food and relaxed atmosphere. Even the restaurant was full, we got served really friendly and without rush. Just loved our waitress and the whole dinner experience.
We were so happy to have found this ”gem”, that we returned there in couple of days to have lunch. We ordered two portions to share, a medium steak and a salad. After getting our dishes we both agreed that the steak wasn’t medium. It was well done, totally brown, not pink at all inside, so I correctly mentioned about that to our waitress. She asked us if we would like to get a new one, and (unsuspectingly) we ordered a new one. I don’t know is it a ”faux pas” in France to show any criticism against food or what was the problem, but next someone (owner, boss?) came to us really angry and furious, and rudely almost yelled us that the steak is good and it’s not their problem if we don’t like it. After a while she came with a new steak and still rudely served it to us. The whole situation was confusing and absurd, and without saying the nice atmosphere and appetite was gone.
So mainly our experience was five stars, but unfortunately we faced the worst attitude and behaviour when giving feedback as a customer. The dinner here was perfect, but sadly the taste of this restaurant soured while having...
Read moreI visited here Saturday 25th October and found that it didn’t quite level up to my expectations. I had the country terrine, chicken supreme and mashed potato with green beans and the cheesecake. My main was really delicious, and the starter and dessert were a bit so-so. My boyfriend had the beef bourguignon and it was great but the bacon was tough. However it was mostly the service that let it down. When we asked about certain dishes (because the menu is very limited in information) we received very little helpful responses from the waiter. When we asked what the catch of the day was, the waiter told us salmon, with no information on what with. He just replied ‘sauce’, and when we later asked what cheesecake it was (because it literally just says cheesecake on the menu) he said berry. When it arrived, it was actually a vanilla cheesecake with (I think, caramel cream on top) and then a bit of berry coulis on the plate. I wouldn’t have chosen the cheesecake had I received more information. The waiting staff weren’t super engaging either, but I appreciate on that it was a busy Saturday night.
In short, the quality of the mains are very strong, but the menu is really missing detail and the staff don’t seem informed enough about the food. Improving this would really level up...
Read moreVery disappointing - I'm afraid I really can't recommend this restaurant (I speak French and am very familiar with French food at all price levels) I wasn't expecting anything fancy but simple basic dishes were not prepared with care or attention in my opinion. For example, onion soup, one would expect some caramelisation and depth of flavour, rather than watery boiled onions, the leeks starter were poorly prepared and very stringy, I could go on about the other dishes...these aren't things that cost money, but are about time and care. The kitchen was working at a very fast pace when we were there banging out dishes that were dumped on the table without any simple pleasantness by efficient and hard working staff, there was no sense of the owners being present or providing oversight or a good atmosphere as suggested in their advertising. The wine was not great and overpriced for the quality, and the interior not particularly attractive, so overall, for this level of food and quality of service I would recommend at least somewhere with a more historic interior where the ambience makes up for the level of food and service at this price....
