LATE NIGHT TRAGEDY Dong Po Gua Bao: i was salivating as the server brought this to the table, but I quickly realized I had been CATFISHED, y’all! I tell myself that the meat must be covered by the veg, or perhaps slid to the back of the bao. But alas, I flick open the with a chopstick, and a sad little sliver of meat presented itself. I looked at the server with a face of confusion, about to ask him what this is, but he was gone before I could say a word. It seemed as if the back of house couldn’t find anymore dong po to slice, and threw in some dry scrap meat that fell off earlier in the day. I thought I was crazy, but I pull up the picture from the restaurant’s website, so…you be the judge. There wasn’t even any julienned leek to be seen. I mean…i’d rather they tell me this item is not available. I muster up the courage, flag down a server to apologize and let him know I’d like to send this back to the kitchen. I flash the website pic to him, he kindly cancelled the item from the check. I appreciate that he did not try to justify it. The aubergine/eggplant dish was ok, traditional flavors, but without much sauce. Seeing that they don’t include a bowl of rice with the dish, probably better off without sauce? Expect smaller serving size than traditional chinese restaurants. Dan Dan noodle was very good. They were out of soup dumplings — we came in at 10pm, and the restaurant closes at 11pm so this was understandable. (But it looks like there’s other reviews saying there’s always out of many menu items.) When we put in the food order, the server pressed 3 times, “no drinks?…no drinks?!…ARE YOU SURE?” — the drink menu looks great, it’s a lively late night place where almost everyone is having drinks, but jeez, we said we just want...

There are just a few really weird events at Bleu Bao that require me to do a 2 star review. I had a reservation for noon on Saturday for 2 people. I arrived at 7 mins. to noon only to be told they were not open!..My mother always taught me to be early rather than late. What was I to do? Go stand outside for 7 mins. in the glaring heat of July? I asked if I could just sit and wait. The answer was...Do I NEED to sit? Emphasis on the word Need. Said I ..."No I could just stand in the corner". Now it is 3 mins to noon and 'they are still not open'...but somehow we negotiate a truce and at 2 mins. to noon I am seated at my table. How perfectly silly is all of this? Had I been 7 mins. late for my reservation would they have been MORE understanding? At the end of meal....both my guest and I wanted a desert of Coconut ice cream . It is served with carmalized pecan sauce. I am allergic to nuts and she doesn't like sauce on Ice Cream. We ordered two dishes of coconut ice cream - plain. We did not want a discount on the price that included the 'sauce' etc. But the Manager explained that it was not possible to have just the ice cream because the 'chef' only serves an item as it is described! Seriously? . You can't serve ice cream without a sauce? Silly but so be it. As for the food...very tasty. As for the waitstaff...very attentive. And for those two reasons I thought about a rating of 3 but in the end the 'experience of the restaurant'...

Highly rated and very popular, and it’s easy to see why. If you’re planning to visit, making a reservation is a good idea because it tends to get quite busy. The menu focuses mainly on dim sums and bao's, but there are a few straters and main dishes that you absolutely shouldn’t miss. We decided to try the assortment of dim sum, and they were exceptional. The minced pork bao, while tasty, was a bit too heavy due to the thick dough, making it quite filling. However, the real standout of our meal was the crispy chicken, paired with a side of noodles. The chicken was perfectly cooked, and the noodles complemented it beautifully. This dish was definitely the highlight and something we’d highly recommend. To finish the meal on a sweet note, make sure to save room for the sticky rice with mango. It’s the perfect dessert to end the experience, and you won’t be...
