Romee, Olivier and Pierre-Charles travelled the world drinking cocktails before returning to Paris to find that the only bars serving high-quality cocktails were hotel bars. They opened ECC in 2008 in the hopes of bringing quality, experimental and interesting cocktails to the city of light. Their expert mixologists serve cocktails made from the freshest ingredients (fresh basil, strawberries, cucumbers, etc) in this sleek New York-style lounge. The bar is great for a pre-dinner or after-work cocktail. It gets very crowded on weekend evenings but you can reserve one of the two tables in the back for bottle service. Since this bar opened in 2008, cocktail bars have popped up throughout the city. This bar has really pioneered the cocktail movement in Paris. Insider's Tip: ECC has partnered with Hendrick's Gin and has created the "Cucumber Rose Society" that throws password-protected parties out of the ECC and their counterpart in London. The parties are themed at the the 1920s era and special cocktails are made, horse and carriages pull up outside, costumes...
Read moreThis speakeasy started a new trend for Paris cocktail lounges back in 2007. It was founded by 3 friends with a passion for mixology and dedication to bringing a unique experience to the Paris nightlife scene.
This classy and sophisticated, but fun, establishment was built around the idea of using fresh, local and unorthodox ingredients to create new and innovative cocktails. You can order from the menu, ask for a recommendation or even offer the bartenders a challenge by sharing your favorite liquor and ingredients for a custom cocktail of your own.
The crowd and atmosphere was super laid back. There was a DJ spinning some house and hip-hop, which added a groovy touch to my experience. The bartenders were very informational and helpful, especially since no one in my group, nor I speak French.
Overall my experience was great. It was awesome to be able to check out one of the first speakeasy bars in the city that helped revolutionize the cocktail scene into what it is today. Definitely a must if you're a mixologist or cocktail...
Read moreThe place is a bit hard to find. There isn't the classical awning above the bar front announcing the name in some trendy font. Instead, there is a small yet shiny plaque on the building with the bar name...Once inside it's a small and quaint place...everyone was dressed very fancily. The bar is the center of place...seemingly only 30-35sqm. The music is alright, spanning across all genres. This is not a place for mingling. Everyone arrives with a possy and it remains that way. It is also not a place for anyone under 25. But once inside, the bar tender immediately gives you a menu with a lengthy list of weird drinks my grandparents might have ordered. The cocktails are not "fun", they are instead very sophisticated and EXPENSIVE. Starting at 10€- 17€. I asked the bar tender that night for what he reccomended...and it was disgusting. Tasted like how I imagined roadkill would taste. The sad part is...its what the bar tender reccomended!...
