Read moreWent to Le Compas tonight on a recommendation. We made reservations but clearly they did not get them or care but that being said we were sat within 5 minutes. Waiter came we ordered starters and asked for his suggestions for wine. He suggested a nice red on the menu and we went with his suggestion, and it was very enjoyable. On to dinner, my husband ordered the duck breast and was served the duck leg. I had the flank steak with either bearnaise sauce or a shallot sauce. I was given my meal and was given the shallot sauce (I know the difference). I asked about the sauce and was told by our server that it was the bearaise sauce, it wasn’t but I just asked to have a bit of the shallot sauce so I could try both, not an overwhelming ask. Funny thing he never showed up with the other sauce for comparison. Then the check came, the wine was $40 more than what we ordered and his response was, “I brought you the best.” And then proceeded to ask for a tip. We have been to quite a few restaurants in the area that have been excellent as well as honest and respectful of their patrons, regardless of their country of origin. I would not recommend Le Compas when there are so many...

When I went and asked the waiter what the issue, he didn’t even apologized and came up with some excuse to explain the delay, yet 6-people party next to us had ordered after we had, and had received their food within 15 minutes.
The salad itself was drowning in oil: there was actually two table spoon of dressing left at the bottom of my plate when I finished. The fish (which I doubt was actual tuna) was overcooked, over-salted, and tough. I struggled to finish.
Tables were glued to each other, so much so that it was hard to have a conversation, everyone shouting over each other. And to come in and out of your seat, you had to walk through a maze of tables or be unable to exit.
I would not return to this place. There are many great restaurants on Mont-Orgueil and...
