What a lovely experience. Peaceful, relaxing, and so good for your skin and spirit. It feels very mothering and healthy to be scrubbed clean and have a massage. I couldn't decide whether it was better to do it in the morning to approach the day with a zen glow, or in the evening before a glass of wine and bed. Both would be heaven. I did morning in the end. If I were here longer I'd go back again. As far as what to do: make a reservation. And then just bring yourself. I don't speak French well, so I went in person to make it easier just in case I couldn't communicate well. It was a weekday, close to when they were closing and they had appointments available the next day. Note: when you leave, your hair will be wet. Someone else left that note in another reveiw and that was helpful to consider for plans after. What to expect: when you enter, you'll be invited to sit in the couch room for a minute, where they'll trade your shoes for sandals. You'll then be brought to a small locker room downstairs to undress and store your things, where you'll also get a scarf as a wrap, and your own new exfoliating glove. Then, with paper bottoms provided, or your own swimsuit bottoms if you prefer, you go to the next room to steam. Eventually, they bring you black soap to apply to your body and you continue to steam until they bring you to the next room for exfoliating and moisturizing treatments. Your job is to just relax until they come and get you for each step. There's a water cooler in the area outside of the steam and gommage rooms to sip cool water if you get too hot. After those treatments, you can go for a last steam, then up for a massage. Grab a robe from a folded stack and be brought back upstairs to a massage room. There's also tea and cookies for basking in your relaxation afterwards. When I was paying, they even sent me off with a small gift of perfume. so nice. I did the gourmand gommage, an extra coffee scrub, and a massage. The look of the place is very authentic and inviting, and there's lovely music playing all around. It's located through a wooden entry door between restaurants off of a bustling street. Then back at the end of the courtyard, just to the left, you'll see two hanging lamps. That's the entrance. It feels like a gorgeous, superior secret to emerge back onto that busy street after being in such an oasis. A guest there at the same time as me, who lives in Paris, says she prefers this hammam because it feels more personal and cozy than others.

Because there are few reviews in English, I'm giving an extensive one here! I'd never been to a hammam before, so my visit to Bains Montorgueil was my first experience. It is definitely not like a regular spa, but it is an experience! The entrance to the building is a bit hard to find, you have to enter through a gate at number 55, walk to the back of the courtyard where you'll find a double door through which you enter. I didn't see a sign, but once you open the door, you know you're in the right place. The ladies don't really speak English but the man behind the counter did. I booked a package with gommage (scrub) and a 45-minute massage with argan oil. I was first welcomed in a small sitting room with mint tea and given flip-flops. Then I was escorted down to the changing rooms where you take off everything, get a sarong and paper panties. You leave your stuff in a locker. The hammam is quite small, but cozy and there were about 4-5 other women there when I was in. The hammam is women only luckily! You first get into the steaming hammam (sauna), and then you are rubbed down with a good scrub. This was the least pleasant part of the experience for me as the scrubbing was quite rough and the lady who was treating me interrupted the scrubbing multiple times to deal with other customers, also another lady was cleaning the scrubbing room and repeatedly bumped into my arm. These are minor inconveniences, but hence 4 stars instead of 5. Then I went back outside, got some black soap to rub me down and went back into the hammam. You are guided through this process. After that I showered and went back up, got bath robes and a towel for my hair and went to the sitting room where I got more tea and baklava (delicious!). For the final part of the treatment, I had a massage in a private room with Souad, who is a great masseuse! This was my favourite part of the treatment. She was gentile and kind and the massage made me sleepy. I even fell asleep at the end and she let me sleep in the room for a bit. After that it was finished. I felt totally fresh and it's a great stress relieve from the sometimes hectic, noisy and dirty streets of Paris. I can definitely recommend. I was inside for a good 3 hours and paid 148 EUR for the package. Overall: definitely recommend!

Best spa experience of my life! Everyone was so kind and accommodating. I don’t speak French but the ladies were trying to speak English to me and accommodate my needs. They took me in and I sat down while they brought me flip flops. I changed my shoes and they took them to store in the back. Then the woman took me to the changing room where they provided a locker for my things. They also gave a pretty sarong to put around me. I changed from my clothing into a bikini (which was not necessary - as I learned later in the treatment). I then wrapped myself in the sarong and went into a room next to the dressing room where I went into the steam room (with sarong) and sat down to enjoy the heat. Soon after, I was called out of the steam room when the woman rubbed black soap over my body. (I was not asked to remove my bikini but some other women had only the bikini bottoms or nothing on. Then I was sent back into the steam room with the sarong and soap on. As I felt was necessary, I went into and out of the steam room because I was too hot but they had water available that I drank at my convenience. I was again called out of the steam room and brought into another room where the scrub began. Here I had to remove my top, and the women made me feel comfortable. I started face down on the table and as per instructions I turned over when the women needed me to. My whole body was exfoliated with a glove and it was amazing the amount of dead skin that was removed. The woman sang while she was scrubbing me and it was peaceful and a great experience. She then proceeded to wash my whole body which felt amazing and finally she scrubbed my scalp and washed my hair. There was a rain shower proceeding this wash down where I did a final rinse and was met with a dry robe. I was led upstairs and brought to a massage room where I had an amazing, relaxing, and revitalizing massage. Finally, I was led back into the sitting room where I was served Turkish desserts like Baklava which were absolutely delicious and a wonderful fresh hot mint tea. After enjoying these treats I headed back downstairs to use the restroom and change back into my clothing. I was left a bit oily from the massage (as expected) so I also had a quick rinse from the conveniently located shower in the dressing room. Finally, I went upstairs and as I payed, they gave me a small parting gift to top off the perfect spa experience. Everyone was so kind and the facilities were so clean. My skin was left feeling very soft and I felt revitalized. I highly...
