My mom and I celebrated my birthday this past February at Hotel Thoumieux and we cannot rave enough about our stay. The staff was incredible, from the moment we were greeted, there was no hesitance in assisting us take our bags upstairs, our check in was smooth and easy which was extremely appreciated after such a long day of travel. We were consistently accommodated throughout our stay with anywhere from extra toiletries to last minute restaurant reservation downstairs. Our room was so charming and the bathroom was wonderful. Our room had a wonderful view of the Eiffel Tower from the window. The only thing I can say may be bothersome during your stay, is the late night piano party downstairs, that you definitely want to be apart of if you can! While you can hear people dancing and carrying on below you, we easily drowned out the noise with white fan noise from YouTube! On the night of my birthday, they accommodated a last minute reservation for my mom and I downstairs… the food was fabulous, the ambiance is spectacular and full of locals, the pianist has a wonderful voice, and the service was above and beyond…. We were treated with free champagne and the bowl of chocolate mouse was the perfect substitute for a birthday cake (in my opinion better). Jennifer was fabulous, she was so knowledgeable & informative. One day during our stay we had taken a cab and we noticed the cabby had bumped up the meter, our cab driver did not speak English and as we don’t speak French we couldn’t ask him why he inflated our trip fare. We called the hotel and spoke to Jennifer asking if it was custom for the cabbys to inflate the price on the meter. She said no, and requested to speak with the driver herself, over the phone. We are not sure exactly what she said, as the conversation was fully in French, but the cab driver decreased his price after speaking with her. Jennifer has your back lol! We were taken care of in and out of the hotel during our stay. Highly recommend Hotel Thoumieux for your Parisian getaway and also highly recommend Jennifer...

Put quite simply, this was the best meal of our lives! We paid a handsome sum, but it was worth every penny. We put ourselves at the mercy of the chef's tasting menu. Over 3 hours later we were not disappointed. I think we ended up with the equivalent of 18 courses. Each was inventive, surprising, and sublimely delicious. Everything was organized in the most skillful way so as to never make the diner uncomfortably full.
I work in the fine wine industry and am usually hesitant to allow a restaurant to choose wine pairings, as these are often a venue for maximum profit rather than a vehicle for maximum culinary experience. The staff did a wonderful job pairing the wines. The greeting Champagne was Billecart Salmon Rose. Wines included with dinner included a Savennieres, Condrieu, Cote Rotie, Catalan, and Vendange Tardive Gewurztraminer. The wines matched the wonderful experience of the food.
Despite all of the high nature of what we experienced, the atmosphere was mildly relaxed. After a while, I realized the staff was wearing dark jeans. You, however, should not. You don't need a tuxedo or evening gown, but a sport coat or considered dress is certainly appropriate.
Everything we enjoyed was the best of the best. I'm still thinking of the cheese course, for example. It was simply sublime. The service was impeccable. This restaurant is a 2 Michelin star but surely will be 3 in time.
We are from New Orleans and have traveled to the likes of Paris and New York before. We have spent money on great food and service and wasn't sure how to set a higher bar for a dining experience. Jean-Francois Piege answered the question for us. It is the new standard by which our fine dining experiences will be judged and I don't see it being matched any time soon. It was truly a game changer for us.
Absolutely recommended. Do not wait for reservations. Make your request bright and early the morning the start accepting...
Read moreA very small but beautiful hotel. After visiting Thoumieux in the 2000's , I was excited to go back there. The small size and beautiful decorated rooms give the hotel a very cosy atmosphere.
Unfortunately the 2* restaurant that used to be inside the hotel didn't manage to survive the corona period, but there was no mention of this on the website. The 2* Michelin label is also still on display next to the front door of the hotel!
The restaurant in the ground floor is always fully booked, so you'll need to book well in advance. We booked a table there and they confirmed our reservation. When we arrived they pretended we never booked a table. Very strange, but it gets worse.
We booked a superior room, which is slightly larger than the standard room. After the first night we found out they gave us a standard room instead. When we asked about this at the reception, the guy said he already explained us that the hotel is fully booked and we got put in the other room.. but he never told us. And then he said it's not his fault.. I never implied it was his fault but that's not the issue.
The breakfast at the ground-floor restaurant was a disaster. Besides the fact that not a single person speaks any English, they manage to mix up your order and take a very long time to help you. We were there when only one other table was occupied, so there should be no reason for this kind of service.
The man at the check-in straight up lied to our faces several times, it was only because the lady at check-out tried to apologize for his mistakes that I'm not leaving...
