I hadn’t been here for a while so I thought I would take a couple clients to have a nice little meal. Everyone was disappointed. The poulet au morilles was horrific covered in some thick cream sauce. The entrecôte for 2 was entirely unimpressive. Ive had more interesting frites on the highway. The escargots were comically oversized. The 120 euro Cornas was closed and without any character. Is this still the Costes who own/manage it? I regularly eat at La Societe, L’Esplanade, and others. They are always good enough to come back to. Steady kitchens and nice atmospheres. Thoumieux isn’t the same level. Honestly this appears to be a restaurant for non parisiens. Fair enough! Small update to my review: I think maybe this is a place for Instagram and those kinds of folks. That’s fair enough. I expected reasonably good food. At least the level of L’Esplanade and was disappointed. Probably my fault for having those expectations.

Thoumieux is my go-to for a festive yet charming night out in Paris. The vibe during second service on a Friday or Saturday is unmatched, thanks to the live piano and singing. It’s not always easy to get a table, but that’s part of the place’s charm and exclusivity. Food-wise, it keeps getting better each time I go. For starters, I love: • Fried calamari: 8/10 • Tiradito de poisson blanc – super fresh: 9/10 • Artichoke carpaccio with truffle vinaigrette: 8/10 → Menu changes with the seasons For mains, I’d recommend the pepper steak (9/10), pro tip: ask for it sliced! The rigatoni (8/10), miso salmon (8/10), and of course the fries. Their sides are great, especially the purée. All in all, a solid pick for good food, good vibes, and great music. Singers can change weekly, so the atmosphere has a different twist.

I wish I could comment on the food… but their archaic and potentially illegal booking system prevented me to do so.

Here is the story. On December 12th, we make a reservation on their website for NYE, on December 31st.

Being a seasoned restaurant goer, I was actually surprised not to be asked any credit card details upon booking as a way to secure it.

On December 15th, some 3 working days later, we received an email asking us to confirm our reservation. To do so, we are asked to send: full credit card details (including the cryptogram) alongside a scan of our ID card or passport. All this via email. They inform no money will be taken unless we don’t show up.

Reluctant to send all this information via email (I’ve never been to the restaurant, I’m an overseas guest, there is just no reason on earth I’ll send out all my information like this via email), I informed them I was happy to pay in full (NYE set menu as a fixed price…) in advance, but I’ll either do that online or on the phone, but I just don’t want to send all this sensitive information via email.

I have never received an answer from this place, even to decline… I just received an automated mail saying my pre-reservation had been cancelled.

I really hope the managers will read this review, because this just highlight an absolute shambolic booking system and, on top of that, potential legal infringement as your premise probably doesn’t have a secure protocol to handle private data (hence in breach of GDPR).

I hope that this will be a wake up call that, in 2021, you need to have a better...

Brasserie Thoumieux offers a refined French dining experience. The elegant décor, complete with candlelit tables, creates a romantic and welcoming atmosphere.

Recommended by a friend from Naples who works in Paris’s fashion scene, I was initially concerned about bringing my family, including two children, to what I assumed was a trendy spot. However, a reassuring phone conversation with a staff member confirmed that the restaurant is indeed family-friendly.

During our visit, we experienced impeccable service—from the warm welcome and attentive coat check to thoughtful food and wine recommendations. Staff frequently checked in to ensure everything was satisfactory, a level of attentiveness we hadn’t encountered elsewhere in Paris.

The table settings, including plates, glasses, and candles, were top-notch, contributing to the overall romantic and cozy ambiance.

We ordered escargots, duck foie gras, and scallops. While the first two dishes were delightful, the scallops were disappointing and led to stomach discomfort for 24 hours. This seems to have been an isolated incident, as the restaurant generally pays great attention to detail, including in the kitchen.

Desserts, particularly the profiteroles, were outstanding, and the margaritas were excellent. However, we noted the absence of sweet dessert wines, which are often appreciated by Italian diners.

Overall, Brasserie Thoumieux offers a sophisticated dining experience with exceptional service, though our experience with the scallops prevents a...

Truly appalling service so bad that we got up and left before ordering so no comment on the actual food. From the start, it felt chaotic and unorganised. Upon entering, there were 4-6 employees at the hostess area, unclear who is supposed to actually help. They struggled to find our reservation so were left standing there waiting. Once they finally found our name, they sat us at a table right behind their hostess area (close enough to touch them), in front of the main entrance and table set for 3 (only 2 of us). This was not necessary given the place was at maybe 10% capacity. We sat there for a bit and realized not only was the cold air continously hitting us from the outside but there was a constant swarming of multiple hostesses standing and guests arriving basically towering over our table as if we were on some sort of strange display. It would not have been possible to have a meal and been able to focus/hear each other speak. We politely asked to be moved to another table given there were plenty others available. Were told a manager would come help. We continued to sit there for TEN MINUTES with nobody ever coming so we got up and walked out. Ridiculous given the prices - they are clearly trying to portray themselves as something they're not capable...
