This restaurant came highly recommended in a travel guide, so I thought we'd have a good experience, or at least good food. I was disappointed to say the least. When we arrived, all the outside tables were taken, so we thought we'd go inside for a table. Neither of us speak French, so there was a moment of confusion as we went to sit, but the waiter was more than capable in English (a good sign, we thought) and explained that though inside seating was finished, he'd be glad to take care of us, after he had checked the outdoor section to see if he could seat us there. He set the table, dropped us the English menus, and busied himself with other tables. 10 to 15 minutes later he asked if we were ready and said he'd be right with us. About this time I see at least one table outside turn over with new customers. Another 10 minutes and the waiter says he'll be right back again. I notice the new table is having their menus taken away and drinks brought out. So, we left. There's about a half dozen places on that corner.

Then we were left for another 20 minutes unattended despite the terace only half full. Finally, a woman came, asked what we wanted, if we wanted to eat, we said yes. Angrily and without a word, she turned back into the restaurant and a moment later, the man who seated us came out and said that the kitchen was already closed (for the afternoon). Upon asking, why we were seated, offered menus and left without a word to sit and wait for half an hour, he just smiled and said "sorry, my fault". The man was nice, but utterly incompetent, the woman was very rude and inhospitable, like we were just a nuisance for her. I can't speak for the food, people who actually got it seemed happy. But the service was horrible and we felt unwelcome and left hungry.
As a side note, their English menu has a lot to...
Read moreWe arrived in Montmartre 5 days ago and were delighted to find this friendly restaurant, serving quality French dishes at sensible prices, after deciding against the very touristy options in La Place du Tertre. We have been back every evening, a different menu choice each day. We have endured storms and floods, but it was worth it! This evening, the weather is mild and dry, there is live music and a delightful town square vibe. We have had 1, 2 or 3 courses, depending on our appetites. A carafe of red or white, a Pastis to start, a Calvados to finish. Couldn't recommend it enough, we...
