This place is wonderful. We started with the smoked salmon and had the sea bass and the duck breast. They were both so good that my husband and I couldn’t decide which dish was better. We also got a bottle of wine and the dessert cheese. Our bill was 110 euros (130 usd) so it was more than fair considering the quality and location. We also looked around at what other tables had and everything looked delicious. It actually has us considering going back to try the bone marrow appetizer and the beef dishes. This place will leave you full and satisfied, but you will also want to come back and try more. For comparison, we walked 200 meters south, and saw lesser dishes, service, and drinks being hawked for prices way higher than we paid here. You must try this restaurant if you are in the area.
Notes: In addition to the normal menu you can find online they also had some specials for the day. They do have a bathroom inside. They have about 10-12 tables inside and I think around 6 outside. We got reservations at 7 on a Saturday. The places was packed by the time we finished...
Read moreWe found this restaurant almost by accident in passing, as it's tucked away around the corner from the Sacre Coeur - so close but missed by most of the tourists. It really is a hidden gem. So we booked a table for a quiet Thursday evening. The restaurant is small but very cosy and intimate and the reception from the owner very warm; he is quite a character with an impish sense of humour yet very attentive. There are no menus in the evening, so we chose from la carte, which features a variety of dishes in season. To start, we chose the ample terrine en croute and the white asparagus which vanished without trace. Next, was filet of beef and the sanglier (wild boar) both superb and cooked to order - the star for me was the sanglier which you never really find in England and was perfect. To follow, rice pudding and rhum baba, both superb but served cold so perhaps not suiting all tastes. There is an extensive and reasonably priced wine list. We had a thoroughly enjoyable last night in Paris. This restaurant is definitely worth a look if you're...
Read moreWe were excited to return after a great visit in 2021, but sadly left disappointed. Service was the biggest letdown—our waiter seemed annoyed we were there (possibly due to a large group), and was rude and dismissive. We were seated outside despite several empty tables inside, all apparently “reserved.”
The female waitress who briefly served us was lovely, but the food didn’t help—my steak was tough, and my partner’s duck confit was dry. A real shame, as this was our favourite spot last time.
Overall, a very average experience, and disappointing to have used one of our three Paris dinners here. On the bright side, we found some great places in the 9th: French Paradox, Stereo, and Saisons.
UPDATE – your reply is exactly the experience we received. No regard for how we felt at the time or were treated. Feels like gas lighting. We are so reasonable and understanding but the truth is, the waiter WAS rude to us, and the food WAS average. It may be inconsistent, but that's on you not us. Not our loss, not your loss either....
