I,or rather myself and friend was rather stymied because my friend had forgotten his passport ,discovered at the airport just as we where about to board !so wasn't best pleased, anyway back to the Hostel and my thoughts at least ,but shared with my friend who felt the same ! we had asked for a deluxe en suite two single beds we got that ,after some confusion because when my mate went up to the room to find a double bed ,not realising that it was actually 2 beds that came apart !but we did stipulate 2 singles so it should have been ready 2 the place was ultra clean but lacked anywhere to hang any clothes up ,NOT ONE SINGLE HANGER !which i felt let us down or a iron to obviously straighten out some shirts or whatever we wanted , And there where no drawers anywhere in the room to place anything ,it was a lot smaller then we expected i didn't go down to breakfast ,but friend did and was disappointed with what was on offer for 6.50 euro's so we went across the road into a supermarket and picked up some fresh baguettes ,ham, cheese ,and a large carton of fresh orange juice and had that a at the tables which was empty by then and enjoyed a large breakfast for under 7 euro's for both ,we decided to eat in ,in the evenings and once again bought stuff from the same supermarket which was pretty cool re:drinks /bar (it says that the bar is part of the hostel, well it may well be but it's only accessible from the outside and has a totally different atmosphere ,still minor niggle ) ,apart from a broken electric on top cooker ( only one ring was working ) oh by the way there where 2 broken bedside lights so pretty useless if you wanted to read at night ( we where told they are going to be mended but not a lot of use to us then) all in all though the staff where pretty friendly and helpful ,but i didn't think that paying top dollar on a "de luxe " room should be missing the above things ,i mean come on guys you DO NEED TO HANG CLOTHES UP AND HAVE SOME BEDSIDE LIGHTING PLUS SOME DRAWERS.....I HAVE NO PROBLEM living like this but it didn't justify the price ,so that's our opinion on the place i wouldn't stay there again ...... OH THE AREA ,some people have mentioned i noticed have said the place was a scary and unsavoury place to walk about ,....didn't feel that at all ,IF you decide to stay there remember that there is a bar on the ground floor and is really loud ,we where on the top floor so it didn't trouble us at all ,but it might if you where on the first or second floor This is an honest and truthful experience ,we only got back this week ,so check out those bedside lights and see if you can do without somewhere without any storage space Russell and Billy ps we had room 402( which in one way was cool ,as it was on the top floor ,there is a tiny lift ......so we weren't disturbed by the screams of merriment? or unprovoked anger? by english guys, ha ha ha ,where ever...
Read moreWe didn't enjoy about 95% of this property. Upon arrival, the entrance and reception were not properly lit and looked a bit depressing. It also smelled weird. The receptionist was polite so there's that. We were told where our room was and upon entering it looked nothing like the pictures. Perhaps they were doing renos? Who knows, we weren't informed. None of the above was an issue, as we were very excited to be travelling and to be in Paris! But then we looked at the room and it was horrible. There was various human excrement on the toilet seat and on the toilet bowl. The shower looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a while, the floor had gooey stains in different areas and the linens in the bed were covered in hair and black fluff or what could even be bed bugs. We were horrified to touch anything in there. We went to the Reception and the person was kind enough to send the housekeeper up to redo the room, but the damage had already been done. The next day we speak to the manager, not to complain, but to have our breakfast refunded as we didn't feel comfortable to eat in this establishment. The manager said they had "a new housekeeper" and genuinely apologised and refunded us the breakfast, but we were really miserable in that room. The water also wasn't consistently warm in the shower. I know it's not a fancy hotel, but we booked a private room for the amenities, so we were hoping the level of service would match the price, as it wasn't exactly cheap. We later contacted them through customer service for an additional partial refund as it was a horrible experience, but they refused, even though I have the pictures of the horrors inside the room. As a hospitality manager myself, I understand it's not easy to have everything perfect and under control but if I saw a room in the state that it was delivered at my hotel, I would make sure the guest didn't leave as unhappy as we did, for sure. Needless to say, we don't recommend and...
Read moreWe stayed in a private room with private bathroom for 3 people. The bathroom was completely different from advertised, much smaller, older, smelled urine, had broken parts, and had the shower drain blocked from day 1. We asked to fix the drain on the first night but despite the receptionist promising to have a look, they never fixed it. We had to wait around 30min for the water to go before the next shower. Water and dirty just accumulated during the shower.
The photos of the reception and breakfast area were also different from those online, they were messy, cramped and with old furniture (not the same as those online). Breakfast was mediocre with instant coffee and bread and croissant tasting like pre-packed products. Certainly not like in the photos (only orange juice, 1 type marmalade, butter, tea). Breakfast was included in our reservation but they nevertheless tried to charge it again before arrival (6 euros, “promotional” price)
Location is geographically good but definitely do not go east of the hostel, especially after dark. That is not safe, unless you are looking for trouble. West is ok while shops are open.
Some staff were super nice, some others couldn’t care less.
They claim they have a bar and coffee but in fact, they have a machine with instant coffee and a mini fridge in the reception.
What is true is that one can indeed see sacre coeur from the room. The magic goes away once the smelly bathroom is open and the arguments in the street start.
This is a relatively cheap place and one cannot expect much comfort. But they are certainly misusing old photos and probably surfing on reviews from...
