La Barge du CROUS — Restaurant in Paris

I have been coming here about once a week and enjoying the sun and the deck and a beer while working on my laptop. Today the guard and the snack bar attendant both gave me a hard time about relaxing before I made my purchase. They kicked me off the boat telling me if I didn’t eat I couldn’t stay. I explained I wanted to read before I had something. I was not hungry yet and was finishing a drink in my bag before I bought another. I didn’t want either drink to be warm. They were very hostile toward me and said I had to be a student and I had to eat. This was a Saturday and there was not a high demand for seats. I told them soon and they said no. I was forced to log out and leave. Not very nice at all. I write reviews all the time and very few of them are negative. I have always loved it here and now I feel like it has been spoiled by mean employees.

In response to the inappropriate response of the moderator: no, in this day and age when people carry water bottles around it is not unusual to have an additional drink with you when you enter an establishment. I have read your responses to other complaints and am shocked at your lack of professionalism and think is very sad for the administration to allow you the responsibility of addressing people’s views of your establishment. Shame on you. What a disappointment it is to see such poor behavior that tarnishes your reputation further.

I’m well aware of where I can and will go to enjoy a beer and the lovely day. It’s too bad that I have recommended this place to so many in the past seeing the true colors...

The food is just ok. You get at least three different options including a vegetarian option. The attitude of the staff was unbearable. There is no service. Once you get the food you move take your plate, collect whatever else you want and have your food! The atmosphere is the only plus of this place. I love this place! Especially Sunday brunch; I go there almost every Sunday. Granted the food isn't amazing but for students, it's a feast! There's smoked salmon! And the view is really nice, on the river. And there is a second floor to the boat where you can lay on beach chairs and have a coffee.
