Walking around in the misty rain on way to another place down the block. Saw bone marrow on menu. That’s my Stop Here trigger.
Titu, the server, was setting up outside and asked us to step in as he saw I was having a hard time reading menu in the dark.
Place had excellent vibe with young newlyweds celebrating their nuptials.
We were given a table for 4, even tho my wife and I were just two. Immediately not treating us a tourists
We started with escargot, the bone marrow (huge and filled with an insane amount of wonderfully buttery marrow. Took like 10 baguette slices, at least, to finish it off.
Valentina had the andouilette and I had the lamb shank.
The andouilette was wonderfully but not overwhelmingly funky and fabulously complemented by the mashed potatoes.
The lamb shank was without a doubt the best I have ever had. As owner of a NYC Michelin forchette Provençal resto, I’ve had many lamb shanks but not like this. Moist, just enough fat and so sweet and herbaceous, I swear I could taste the pasture the sheep grazed in. It came with penne in a very flavorful but not overwhelming and not acidic at all tomato sauce.
As I’m not a huge lover of pasta with tomato sauce I asked for a 1/2 portion of the mashed potatoes which were complementary.
We had a very nice Pic Saint Loup with the meal
Charles, the owner behind the bar, was kind to send us a couple rum digestifs to end our wonderful evening
We left with the rain gone and the evening warm. On way home we found €20 to put a cherry on a wonderful experience
A very special memory
See you...
Read moreA very quiet cute place for your meal, break, or escape from the day for a moment. I walked by it twice on different occasions before I decided to sit and have a meal. The server was great, courteous, and helpful. Did an amazing job handling a pretty big section, the menu was nice and affordable. This is why this is one of the small places that amazed me in Paris. I sad outside and enjoy lunch, the filet mignon dish was delicious, meat was tender and the fries were to die for. Then the waitress took a break and the manager was helping her out taking over her tables in a smooth manner, had the chance to visit the inside and it was nicely, simply, and stylishly done. The design and staff’s “friendliness” made me fool like I was home. I will always stop by this bistro during my visits to Paris. Highly...
Read moreThe food was good, I ordered the "4.91" (or something like that) that was a stack of several layers, including a bun, a veggie burger they treated like falafel, a minty yogurt later and avocado, with Asian vegetables on the side. There was a bar that people could sit at, and I saw the bartender preparing cocktails, but I didn't see a cocktail list. I got the signature "aperitif", which was a kir with ginger syrup, basically tasted as you would expect. We dined there quite late and were gently nudged out, first by being told they were no longer serving coffee, and then being told they were closing in ten minutes when we were trying to pay. Doesn't bother me, but my French companion thought that was...
