Was strolling nearby over the V-weekend. Holybelly 5 made us waited for nearly 2 hours outside with a queue thats not moving at all. So, our breakfast was skipped, had a brunch meal here instead, sadly no English menu available, but the friendly girls tried their best to help us with their English. In general, was very attentive and given utmost care throughout the whole course. We sat outside to enjoy the pleasant weather and surroundings. Service, it's blown off the roof and instantly reached the stars! 😂
After google translating the menu, we had snails w garlic sauce, mushroom soup & 'Foie Gras' accompanied by some French bread for starters. Lamp chops with Mash Potato. Cheesecake with Raspberry sauce. All tasted and presented very well. It's not even flattery, been to Paris for past 3 years for our V days, no restaurant can please us from start to end, La Marine's our 1st. It's very rare to have enjoyed everything from a venue, but we did.
We had a latte and hot chocolate was noteworthy, very rich. Given some still water to share as well.
All for under €60. Will return back to this restaurant in...
Read moreWas recommended this restaurant for a quick bite not far from the Crowne Plaza hotel at Place de la Republique. It's right on the corner of a street intersection which has quite a bit of traffic, and the tables outside are cramped which is typical in Paris. And while this may sound like a negative review, it's not. Just a heads up for the atmosphere. The food is phenomenal! Period. The steak tartar came premixed which left me worried but the mix was perfect. No gherkins inside but just a touch of salt and it was amazing. Portion was very large as well. The house wine for 14 euros was very nice table wine, but you're in France :-) hard to get bad wine. We also had the duck which was very tender and juicy, served with some pickled onions which were delicious as well. The creme Brule was the perfect finish with a balance between warm and cold, and sweet and savory. The service left a bit to be desired as we were told... Ugh, I don't really know about the wine. But overall a great place with a nice view of the water. Definitely check it out if you're in the area but not worth a...
Read moreAs a resident in the neighborhood I’ve been visiting La Marine frequently during the last few years. This unfortunately came to a definite halt last Saturday. I ordered their entrecôte (rare) for lunch that gave me a very aggressive food poisoning that I’m still recovering from three days later (results from blood tests regarding bacteria in progress)
While it is understandable that exceptions in food hygiene can happen, there is no excuse for the follow up “service” I received. I went to inform the restaurant about the food poisoning the following day and basically had to ask them to even produce me a simple apology. The staff basically had 0 understanding and merely, in a rather arrogant way, asked me “what would you like us to do?”. There was never the slightest suggestion that they wanted to do a commercial gestion (except offering a drink). In cases like this you have one chance to make a good impression and unfortunately the staff at La Marine chose not to. Very...
