Quite disappointing that a restaurant as such, in a good location in Paris could not have delivered a better experience. The waiter was NOT FRIENDLY at all, it seems like he was in a rush for us to order. We had a light dinner really, two onion soups and a Caesar salad to share. The taste was ok, presentation not so much. For almost 80€ in total the restaurant did not met my expectations. Requesting an invoice seems like hell for them, waiter and manager, a long time to resolve it and the manager seemed like he was the waiter and the waiter seemed like the manager boss. So strange to be honest. I’ve worked as a waiter myself in New York in my 20’s and a few other times later on. So I know the experience in a place of any kind, starts with a great service! The staff in this place was not at all service oriented, needs revision. And it’s sad to say I realised how awful experience I had when I went for dinner in front of the Moulin Rouge the next evening and was blown away by the service skill the waiter had a ROUGE BIS, better food, better atmosphere, every single detail was taking in consideration for the customer experience and not to mention the service, my God what a great waiter we had! And all the staff seemed enjoying what they do, key in this industry! The bill for 2 onion soups, 12 escargots de Bourgogne, 2 brioche perdue (French toast bread) EXQUISIT desserts, 1 mocktail, 1 sparkling water, all together was 67€. I gladly tipped the waiter 23€! So I would not consider La Pépinière for another visit.

An Unfriendly Experience. My boyfriend and I were in Paris for the summer and we stumbled upon La Pèpinière on the corner of the street, perfect to enjoy the Parisian Summer. We sat ourselves at a table outside, the waiter, a man with dark hair did not greet us. I did not think anything of it as i am always looking for the good in people, I ordered a cafe. He was extremely stand-off and rude and did not acknowledge my politeness. After asking him for a scissor to cut the cigar, he did not look at us while we spoke to him. As we watched his interactions with the other customers, he was friendly attentive when they ordered. However with us it was a complete unfriendly encounter. I don’t know if it was because we were Black or American or both. It’s very sad that this is the experience I had. I will never be back to this cafe or recommend to any of my friends.

My group of six from California visited La Pépinière for drinks and appetizers, spending about €140. Everything was fine until about 15 minutes before we left, when a waiter suddenly started loudly cursing us in French with discriminatory language, causing a scene that made nearby tables stare uncomfortably. I have traveled extensively worldwide and have never experienced such hostile and unprofessional behavior from any restaurant staff. When I took a photo of the waiter to document the incident, he aggressively followed and threatened me outside the restaurant. This was beyond poor service — it was harassment. I strongly warn others to avoid this place until management addresses this unacceptable behavior. Paris offers many wonderful venues; this is not one of them. Picture of the waiter is attached.

I'm disappointed ! A bad experience. I just came from this restaurant, not the first time ... I went there with my friends because the interior in the recessed hall is left at the end / beautiful and relaxing !! I asked for chicken and got live meat that doesn't separate from the bones even with a steak knife. And smells like a live chicken meat. The waiter immediately took it back to cook the meal . He soon returned it back for what, a little yellowed, but the fact that the bone from the drumsticks again I could not extract, it told me that it was glued meat to the bone and smells alive. I explain to the waiter, and I roll the plate a second time .... NOW ... TOGETHER WITH THE CROSSBOWER WITH OUR CROSSED HANDS A FALLY YELLOW RED IN THE FACE MAN, comes (behind which I expected security or police... A MAN WHO PROBABLY IS THE CHIEF OF THE CHANGE OR MANAGER OF THIS BEAUTIFUL PLACE! Such a bad picture !!! They were WONDERING WHAT IS THE PROBLEM ? He is brought across the table to my face with my eyes wide open as if it wanted a physical calculation. i look at him ... and i ask what is the attitude ?? On the face of such inappropriate behavior ??? The man has no sayings and continues to argue with me out loud. I have to add that after spreading his arms out of the body guard stance, he put both hands on mine and his whole chest was pushed across the table .. Like a .. Further I would not speak .. My friend was upset and then he commented that he had never seen anything like this in his 45 years in Paris. Not my recimandation to the tourists. To the woman in company with one woman if she...

The atmosphere is nice and the menu selection was a good selling point for me. The mozz/heirloom tomato salad had delicious cheese and bland tomatoes but you can't really know what a tomato tastes like until you try it. So nothing against the chef. Sometimes a tomato just isn't that flavorful. The sea bass was very well prepared and the mousse with whole peas was an interesting side, well executed. The server was pleasant but overwhelmed with tables. He could use some extra Covid training. Having the staff wear masks does nothing if the server sticks his fingers in 10 dirty glasses and keeps on serving everyone else. Combining bread I didn't eat on a new plate and serving it to the table next to me wasn't the best practice either.

I admit, I felt a bit ignored. It's probably due to the server having too many tables. He seemed genuinely nice. Management was absent I suppose. A man in a suit sat me but that could have been a host. It's a lively spot with great atmosphere and good food. The staff is nice but overwhelmed and not the best...
