Update: The General Manager saw my reviews and reached out and apologized and conceded they were incorrect and handled the situation poorly. The amount was refunded. I did appreciate the email from her and hope that everyone on staff is trained on this now so future customers won't have to go through the same experience. The amount of time it took myself and Expedia representatives to try to clear this up with them was the truly frustrating part of this situation (even after having escalated it to a supervisor). If it were not for my reviews, I do not think it would have been resolved. That being said, I did appreciate that the General Manager finally rectified it. The hotel itself and the housekeeping and restaurant staff were wonderful.
We stayed at this hotel March 2024. Family of four, two minors. We booked through Expedia because when you book through their website, it is SKETCHY. They insist you pay a conversion fee if you are not paying in Euros and they apply their own (much worse) conversion rate than you would see anywhere else such that it ended up being much more expensive than the original quote. I booked so many things prior to our trip to Paris and they were the ONLY website that had this weird sketchy bait and switch.
So, I booked through Expedia to not have to deal with that. Expedia confirmation stated that we would have to pay the hotel 85.84 Euros ($92.60) ourselves at check out. That is for the French Tourist tax WHICH MINORS DO NOT HAVE TO PAY.
Fast forward to the day we check out. They insist that minors have to pay the tourist tax. We showed them our Expedia confirmation. They didn't care. We are in a foreign country, trying to check out and get in our uber to go to the airport. We essentially felt like we were being held hostage until we paid them what they wanted.
So, I figured I'd pay them and we would figure this all out later with Expedia and with a hotel higher up or something.
NOT THE CASE.
They insisted via email that minors between 12 and 18 get charged the tourist tax. A simple google search will prove this false. The official French tax website states only adults pay the tax. Since when was a 13 year old considered an adult?
The treatment by them on the day of check out and the continued treatment of insisting falsely they did nothing wrong is infuriating.
We paid close to $5,000 for our four night stay there for two rooms. Trust me when I say it's not the $92.60 that I am angry about.
This is disgusting fraudulent business practice and I'm shocked that this would happen at a big hotel chain like Hyatt.
I am disputing the charge with my credit card company and telling as many people and websites as I can about this...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at this hotel for our honeymoon 18 years ago. We decided to stay here again with our two daughters, my mother, and my brother. My family of 4 rented out the family interconnected room and my mother and brother each got their own room. As a family of 4 who travels heavy (lots of luggage) with my wife and two young girls, the room was perfect. You get a king sized bed that can turn into twin beds and another queen sized bed and you get two full bathrooms, each interconnected with a common hallway but closed off into it's own small suite. It was spacious, comfortable, and the AC worked really well for the short heat wave that hit us. If you are going to Paris either with young kids so that you can keep the doors and hallway open, or with teenagers for more privacy within the suite, I would recommend you stay here. It's a little expensive, but the quality, and service you receive is as good as any luxury hotel I've ever stayed at. It's about 15-20 minute walk to all the spots, and my 78 year old mother had no problem walking from the hotel to most of the great spots. The hotel can arrange everything. We called and emailed in advance and they set up the tours, the transportation, and most important of all, VIP customs that met us right as we walked off the plane, to baggage claim, and on to our vehicle. From the plane to our vehicle took maybe 15-20 minutes, which at CDG airport is FAST.||||Even if without a family, there were many businessman and young people just having fun, so it really is a hotel for all goers. As a US tourist, who values luxury, good AC when needed, super strong water pressure, and great service, this hotel checked every single box. Also, the housekeeping was on another level. They really cleaned our room, which was messy every day with two young daughters. The service was also great. At the restaurant each staff spoke personally to my daughters, remembered their orders, asked them questions, and made them feel seen and as little individuals and were just great with them. Service was great all around from the doorman, to reception, to the restaurant, to housekeeping. When we checked in the manager introduced herself, asked us questions, interacted, and just seemed to really like her job. So did everyone else. ||||One last thing, they have a Monoprix right next to the hotel at the corner, which is a small supermarket, which made the location doubly convenient for getting drinks and snacks.||||I travel between 75-100 days a year for work staying at some of the nicest hotels around, and so I am very critical of every small thing. After 10 days at this hotel, I have...
