This was absolutely the worst meal I've had in Paris and it was our last night here. I've had some amazing meals in Paris and I would feel very sorry for anyone who decides to eat here as a first impression of French food. Only eat here if everything else is closed and you are starving and there are no other options. The place smelled horribly of mold and my dish was so unpalatable that I could not physically eat it. I wanted to gag the entire time sitting at the table because of the smell of mold (it was raining and humid which I'm sure emphasized the smell). If you absolutely have to eat here, only have the pasta. One person in our party had a pasta that was ok. It was the only meal that was eaten. That, and the cheese plate. Another had the chicken which was so dry she couldn't eat it. And to top it off when we complained the waiter started arguing with us and said the chicken is supposed to be dry and offered a sause to mask it. Then he tried saying that we already ate the food even though we only had 3-4 bites. He refused to comp both even though neither one of us ate more than a couple of bites and tried to only comp the cheaper chicken option. We told him no, if he could only comp one of the dishes it has to be the steak since it was less eaten than the chicken (by a marginal amount). He was rude to us even before everything happened because we were trying to order in French originally and he could tell we didn't speak good French and was very annoyed. Horrible experience.
UPDATE: I was not looking for a fine dining experience. I ordered a medium steak, not a "really...
Read moreCame here based on their menu of the day. Ended up having a bottle of HCdB, couple of bowls of onion soup and started with a salad. Waiters were literally running their tails off. Service was good, even though they were slammed, and the food was simple but fabulous. Definitely will come back.
Came back for lunch. Cheese plate, steak frites. Man, I've never tasted a better piece of meat. Seriously good. Cheese plate had roquefort among the selections. Bread ... the little rolls and baguettes were first class. Had a nice Loire red. Served at the correct (cave) temperate.
Soooo came back for supper. Three meals in row? Are you kidding? Burrata and tomatoes and a couple of sandwiches with a Crozes-Hermitage. The sandwiches were fantastic and large ... we've had several in different places in Paris this week, these were the biggest and the best. The wines we had here were all really good expressions of the styles, the CH was in the fresh/fruity style that we love. Hautes Cotes de Beaune was excellent as was the Loire red (St Nicolas de Bourgueil).
My new favorite place to eat in Paris. Different waiters every time and they were all super. Food was great. Wine served at correct temperature and they selected good wines. Solid 5...
Read moreThe atmosphere was amazing, our server was amazing too. She did a great job, was very friendly and seemed like a genuine nice person. We ordered some drinks and after a little bit we ordered our food. That's when it all went downhill. We got a bit concerned when our food was at our table within 5 minutes of ordering. That seems a bit quick, too quick. But okay, we cared about the taste. The food was not a nice experience. I had the duck, it was dry and not a nice texture. Part of it was crunchy, just not the part I hoped for. The skin was cooked but floppy. The fat wasn't rendered down so I couldn't enjoy it. The potatoes were dark, almost black. I don't know what they did to them or how old they were but everything about them was just not nice. They were awfull. My partner had the french sausage menu du jour that was supposed to come with a green salad. The salad was 1 leaf of lettuce and a quarter of a cherry tomato. This was litterly all the green salad was. 1 leaf of lettuce and a quarter of a CHERRY tomato.
TLDR; Amazing atmosphere, nice...
