La Resistance — Restaurant in Paris

Single-handedly the worst bar experience I have had in Paris, I live here and went to meet a friend for her birthday at La Resistance. We were sat at the bar and told to wait until a table freed up which was no problem at all, it added to the ambience. However, the bartender was unbelievably rude to us, without cause. We are young women, and were speaking English. We were looking at the menu and my friend passed me a leftover piece of paper on the bar so I would be able to put out my gum and the bartender retorted "if you want a second-hand receipt rather than to order drinks I can get that arranged for you", I was shocked but as a bilingual thought it would have been lost in translation. Although it was odd because we did order cocktails. A table was then freed up and we asked politely if we were able to sit there and the same bartender, who was not the gentleman we asked, retorted "patience gets you a long way in life", even though we had not asked previously or alike. I am in the neighborhood and always wanted to try this cocktails bar but

I read the website and was looking forward to have a drink . However

When I walked in , I found a seat as it was not full at the time .

The waiter told me in French we don’t serve coffee here !

I was surprised to hear that as the cocktail bar looks like a place to serve alcohol not like a cafe.

Not sure why he told me this when I first visited

The cocktail taste good maybe a few euro higher than others but the quality is better.

I tried the salmon paste with the bread. It’s good for the cocktails.

I spoke to the waiter more and hope he would remember me and won’t say no coffee again. Haha

I had an awful customer experience here. I’m a tourist, and a French customer assaulted my wife at this bar. I very politely told him to stop. The French customer then aggressively kick offed, squaring up to me and my wife, screaming in French at me, in words I didn’t understand, whilst we stayed very calm and reconciliatory. None of the staff seemed remotely bothered that this person assaulted my wife or was being unduly aggressive, they didn’t care about our side of the story etc. The owner then came, apologised to the “assaulter” for our behaviour and gave him free drinks.
