La Source – 48 Blvd de la Tour Maubourg, Paris 7th ⭐☆☆☆☆

I have been to La Source many times before and even recommended it to friends last year (September 2024) I ate here multiple times and the food was excellent. Unfortunately, on my most recent visit in 2025 during a girls’ trip, the experience was so poor that I will never return.

We came excited for their French onion soup and fish, which had been wonderful before. This time, however, everything was disappointing. The food was cold, flavorless, and poorly prepared. The fish arrived with a cold sauce, and the onion soup once rich and delicious was greasy, bland, and ice cold. After sending it back, it returned lukewarm but still tasteless. We barely ate four spoonfuls before deciding it was inedible. Another family nearby also commented on how bad it was.

When I politely told our waitress that the soup wasn’t good and we did not want to eat it, instead of handling it professionally, she was dismissive and rude, saying, “It’s not for everybody, if you don’t like it, it’s not my fault.” To make matters worse, the soup was initially left on the bill. When I questioned it, she argued with us, rolled her eyes, slammed items on our table, and even threw our change back at us in a very disrespectful way. This behavior was humiliating and extremely unprofessional.

I have visited Paris 17 times and eaten at countless restaurants here. Not once have I ever had to send back a dish let alone be made to feel as though it was my fault for not liking food that was clearly poorly prepared. Other diners around us agreed the soup was terrible but paid anyway just to avoid confrontation.

La Source has gone from being a favorite to a restaurant I will never set foot in again. I always stay nearby and used to recommend it to others but, from now on, I will warn friends and fellow travelers to avoid this restaurant at all costs. The food was awful, and the service we experienced was...

Waiter was extremely rude. The bald headed one. I was there two days ago. I first ordered French onion soup. The waiter pulled a face and did something strange with his mouth in a look of contempt to me that i hadnt ordered a main meal. I then ordered a bottle of water for a drink, the waiter pulled another face that i hadnt ordered a beer from the bar. This went on and on where each time I gestured to this waiter, he would say 'wait and minute', then he would not bother to come back to my table. Eventually i ordered a creme caramel, waiter didn't stand 3 seconds to hear the rest of my order, no eye contact, then he sped off. When creme caramel came out, i had to order a hot chocolate as before he didn't wait to listen to my order the first time. The waiter pulled another face. Hot chocolate never came out yet was placed on the bill. Eventually i went to pay my bill and asked hot chocolate to be taken off as i'd been charged for it. Waiter was being flattering to me before his boss and slapped me on the shoulder a couple of times in an attempt to show his boss that he was friendly. I didn't appreciate it. Rudest waiter ive met in my time of going to restaurants in 40 years. Eventually i paid my bill and this same waiter took my money and wouldnt give the change. I demanded my change back and indicated i wouldn't be giving him a tip. He pulled another face. What a disgraceful attitude. How arrogant. This is service in Paris people. Its a disease the people dont know they have got. Rude as can be. Greg Foster,...

We just needed to find a place for lunch after spending several hours at the Invalides so, we popped in here. I read the reviews prior to doing so and set my expectations accordingly. I’m glad I did that or I’d be really disappointed if I had high expectations. It wasn’t bad. It wasn’t great. My son and I both had pasta dishes and we compared our experience to going to an Olive Garden in the US after eating at high end restaurants all week. We like Olive Garden, but we know it’s not going to impress us. It’s good for a quick, inexpensive satisfactory meal out and that’s exactly what we got at La Source too. We realized about halfway through our meal that we were never served bread and I had to ask for my water twice. Not sure why we didn’t get bread, but we didn’t pursue it. The waiter was indifferent. Not impolite just didn’t seem impressed with yet another table of tourists, perhaps. He seemed to be a little more cheery with the locals at nearby tables. We are Americans but my Grandma was French and I’ve been traveling to France since I was a kid so, I try to behave more local than tourist. I do my best to not be annoying. Nonetheless, he wasn’t rude, but did forget things and seemed bothered for some reason. Would we eat her again? Not sure. It is close to a metro station we used a lot and to our hotel. We don’t need to be friends with our waiter. And again, it wasn’t bad. It likely wouldn’t be our first choice, but we would go back if nothing else tops it. Just...

If you have more than 2+ hours. We wanted to have brunch until an excursion. We had 2 hours for it. Orders frog legs, onion soup and avocado toast, coffee and wine. The first two dishes we waited for 10-20 minutes. Then waiter started to run around all the tables. I told to another one “we are in a hurry and wait for the toast”. Toas was brought in 40-50 minutes after other dishes. There was the same case with payment also. Our waiter brought the check and run away with a bottle of wine to another table. In the end we took the check and paid next to the bar. I have repeated several times that we are late, but "we have a lot of visitors" is an excuse that we almost lost 200€ for the tour. If the staff can't handle it, reduce the number of tables.

Ok food, shame about the team of waiters/waitresses. This place could be soo good if the staff could smile and actually look like they want to work here. It's hard to review the food fairly when the majority of my conversations with the wife were was dominated by the don't care attitude of 3 staff members. When ordering steak, I expect to be ask "how do you like it cook" when asking for mayo/ketchup. I don't expect to be told "No and if it's not on your table, we don't have it". Request a seat away from the bright sun and to be told. "This is your seat". .....I would of given one star if I didn't have a sense of humour, but after their last comment it just made me laugh more than anything :) well done to all involved

On a quest for Soupe à l'oignon we stopped here, just around the corner from Musée de l'Armée. Very busy, but managed to find us a table for x 2 inside. We ordered the Soupe à l'oignon, Ecargots au beurre d'ail x 6 and a share platter, Auvergnate, with a bottle of Rose. The food was fantastic. Tasty, rich and moorish soupe and perfectly garlicky escargot. The share plate had 3 x meats and cheese with the obligatory baguette. Pieces of baguette dipped in the butter and Garlic from the Escargot = Heaven! A must visit when in Paris. Ask for Arnaud he will look after you.
