I have now eaten here three times in the last week. Largely as it is very convenient to my hotel and the weather has been lousy, but also because I like it a lot. I have now tried the steak in St. Estephe sauce (Mmmm!), the veal kidneys and the lamb. I don't recommend the lamb. I have had the oysters as a starter, and the scrambled eggs with asparagus, which were excellent, too. I substituted the menu wine for something from the card each time, and was each time delighted. The place is usually well-filled, which can cause the service to be a tad slow, but in general I have no issue with the service. Sometimes it's 3-star, sometime 5-star. The ambiance is very pleasant. Read moreCocktails were very good as were our appetizers. From there on it was downhill with extremely poor service. The fish was a thin piece of dorade overcooked. The rump steak which was poorly plated, was thick and tender but not flavorful. Our dessert was so-so. Regarding the service- 10 minutes seated and feeling ignored we had to ask for menus. And then a waiter threw one menu on the table. Next we had to inquire as to our waiter was. He finally came over. In between each course we had to look for him again. He was either new or uncomfortable serving us. We won’t go back though for many years we frequented the restaurant of the same name and place that was closed for a couple of years and now reopened...
Read moreReally weird place. Bustling and bossy staff. Forgettable entrees. Very badly cooked steaks and chewy duck. None of the meat had been rested properly, so blood all over the plates. My steak was very sinewy and when I asked about it, I was told "that is the cut of meat". Frites were cold and chewy. When a 10 yr old boy won't eat the fries, you know they are bad. Crazy and loud music was playing, with songs chopping and changing without finishing. Dessert was nice. Feels like a restaurant that has seen better days. Lost their 3 Michelin stars 12 years ago but still have their past glory in their menu. Give it up. Those days...
