Le Comptoir des Fables — Restaurant in Paris

I happened to dine here 2 days ago for the first time but to my dissapointment, i was dismayed by the food esp. the Creamy Chocolate Cake(dessert)and the Raviole du cochon. For its price, it isn't even worth it. The cocktail i took which was the Ginger Matcha if i remembered it correctly was a dissappointment as well. We go out often and i always take my cocktails and this is by far the worst cocktail that I have taken. So, im giving 1 star for this resto. The place was not spacious too, felt i was cornered and can't move. Had to go to a bar just to drink a very good cocktail before heading back home.

Nothing personal Sir. I am just making an honest review based on my personal experience dining at your resto. You should take this as a constructive criticism, not as a personal attack. I have been a contributor and reviewer for a few years now( you may check on my profile here on Google Maps, my stats and views of my pics) and this is by far the first time that an establishment that we visited and made an unsatisfactory review can't accept that. A review should be honest to guide well the consumers/clients and not to please any owners. This is a review, nothing personal. If the food didnt pass to my taste and standard then, i am sorry to say. Not everyone has the same taste, just so happen the food didnt really at par to what i had expected. This is first time I'm writing 2 star review. ( usually I'm writing 5 star with happy mood so this is sad for me too)

SERVICE : Very friendly, polite and English speaking waiter.

LOCATION/ATMOSPHERE: very nice

FOOD : pure disappointment !!!!

We are food lovers so we don't mind to spend money on quality food.

Here, unfortunately, the food was by far not meeting the price point.

Tapas is small so we ordered 3 per person as they recommended. To be specific, 4 normal tapas (17-18€ each) , one special tapas (beef steak for 2ppl, 59€) and 2 glass of wine. Total 173€

We were expecting, like in other reviews, "Amazing" or "Wow" but it was more like "are you kidding me?" The food looked nice but the taste was absolutely only "OK" it didn't taste bad but it didn't taste good either....we were still hoping the meet is something but this was even more a disaster...only looking good, bit dry, ordinary steak.

I felt, it can't be. How did I make this mistake...was Schef on vacation?? How come there are so many good reviews on food!? I can't recommend to any of...

A friend and I accidentally (well, spontaneously and based on the reviews here) landed at Le Comptoir des Fables and we left very satisfied. I'm not a big fan of the "tapas" concept, but if it's always as well executed as here, I'm in. We had a white asparagus dish, steamed lamb, dorade with black pudding and red cabbage, grilled cauliflower and a pork gyoza and everything was well prepared and very balanced. The wine menu is good, although a bit pricey, which I also would say about the food. The desert menu is a bit underwhelming, so we didn't order any. After paying we were left without a goodbye or anything. Regarding personal attention, that could have been a bit better. For the food? Definitely...
