If you choose to stay here, DO NOT take directions from the staff. I asked a staff member for directions to the Louvre museum and I got the wrong information. I unfortunately arrived at the wrong destination and missed my tour guide. Upon speaking to the hotel staff about the matter and explaining that my tour guide refused to provide a refund. One staff member walked away in the middle of our conversation, while the other pretended to be busy on the phone for one hour. I was standing right in front of him and he just continued to answer every phone call that came through without addressing me. They ignored the incident and pretended like the wrong information they had given me had nothing to do with them. I won't be staying here again. I won't make the same mistake twice.
*EDIT: For those of you following this thread. The business is taking every effort to appear like the incident that occur was through no fault of their own.
I went to the front desk to inquire about how to get to the Louvre. I explicitly stated to the staff that I had was headed to the Louvre Museum and that unless the museum was close by, I would be calling an uber so as to not miss my tour guide. The front desk staff told me that there was no need to call an uber because the Louvre Museum was walking-distance (14 minutes away).
I trusted the staff because they are locals to Paris. I also trusted the staff because google maps is not always reliable in a foreign country. Once I stepped out of the hotel, other locals started to tell me that the Louvre Museum was actually 40 minutes away. At that point I knew that I had made a mistake by listening to them and not ordering the uber as I had originally intended too. The hotel staff states that "In our hotel, all the itineraries are already prepared and all our teams."
However, they did not hand me an itinerary. They told me that walking was an option. I went with what they told me because my ticket which they claim, "all the information you needed to reach the Louvre was clearly indicated on your ticket that you booked online via an external service provider, including the address and transport options." Did not in fact have information on how to get to the Louvre, only the address was listed. Why wouldn't the hotel know that the Louvre is 40 minutes away from their establishment? They seriously live and work in the city of Paris. In any event, absolutely nothing was done to remedy the situation. I lost $70 dollars for my tour that day and the hotel did not offer to even cover half, or perhaps a 10% discount for my next stay with them. Whatever you decide, just be very clear with the staff when you ask for help. I am already alerting my friends and family not...
Read moreMy husband and I were on a trip to Italy and decided to stop in Paris for a few days. This was our very first international trip and was very excited. We wanted to be close to the Eiffel Tower and the Hotel de la Paix was perfect. The location was ideal. A casual 5-10 minute walk each way, just depends on if you stop at all the little shops or eating places. The surrounding area was so pretty. so typical "Paris" from what I've imagined it to be. It's location is on a little side street, so it was a bit challenging to find at first, with the "many" little side streets, but that was all part of the adventure. The staff was very, very helpful and spoke english rather well. Zoko was especially helpful and made all our tour & transfer arrangements. The breakfast buffet continental style was nice. They have this neat egg poaching machine that my husband loved. They had everything you need to start your day. The coffee was delicious and you can have your meal in your room if you wanted. The elevator, or "Lift" as they call it, is so tiny. I could barely fit in there with my 1 suitcase but it sure was fun trying, and finally did. The rooms and bathrooms are small too, but very nice. Everything is updated and "techno" equipped. the free wireless was a huge plus for us to keep in touch with family and friends back home in Hawaii. We had a wonderful time there and especially because of the awesome staff. Our Aloha to all of them.We hope to go back again one day...but if we don't make it back, we have wonderful memories of Paris and the Hotel de la Paix....
Read moreWe basically picked this hotel because of the pictures and proximity to the Eiffel Tower. It is a small boutique hotel, and the room was very nice. As mentioned in another post, the AC temp could not be altered. No matter, as I am very hot-natured. We were on the second floor (one in France?) and there did not seem to be an elevator that accessed our floor. The front desk gentleman said it would go to second floor and then would have to take stairs down to our room. He was very nice to take our bags to room, but on departure the front desk person wouldn't help with our bags. I didn't begrudge him since it is a small place with no bellman. T
he location is perfect! There were lots of shops and brasseries around to visit, and very close to Eiffel Tower. I never felt unsafe in this area. It seems really nice and upscale. We did not partake in the breakfast as we had an early flight. We would definitely...
