Le Nelie is a wonderful restaurant within the Musee Jacquemart-Andre. If you are visiting the Museum, you will likely spend several hours and should plan to have lunch at Le Nelie, which is a top-notch restaurant.
Bad news - no reservations. SO - be sure to queue early for the opening if you want to get in and get served quickly. The restaurant opens for lunch beginning at 1000 - we queued at 20 minutes to 10 and were in the first 10 people to get in. Also - there is NO entry between 1100 and 1145, so if you don't get in before 11, you must wait until after 12 to enter. It is open until 1800 most days (1900 on Saturdays and Sundays, and 2200 on Fridays). You can visit the restaurant without visiting the museum (but why? - the museum is wonderful too).
We started with Kir Royales (and had seconds with our mains). I had the Carpaccio de boeuf which was beautiful as well as savory. The beef was thinly sliced and accompanied by toast with tapenade, wonderful little button mushrooms, large caper berries, and potatoes gratin dauphinois. For dessert, my wife (like most patrons) chose the "Patisserie au choix" - you go with your server to the dessert display and choose what pastry dessert you would like. They then serve the dessert to your table. I went with the "Coupe 2 parfums" a lighter pairing of Guajana dark chocolate and vanilla with Bourbon bean...
Read moreAn extremely well hidden and magnificent café in the middle of Paris. Directly inside the museum, although free to access without going in in it. This café is placed in an old "bourgeois" living-room featuring amazing French architecture and style. The staff was very nice and welcoming. Drinks were well made and pastries were alright. The prices are relatively high, which could be justified by the place itself, but still something to note down before going there.
Great...
Read moreI was really disappointed by my visit to Café Le Nélie inside the beautiful Musée Jacquemart-André. I ordered the “Thé Gourmand” expecting a little selection of pastries, but what arrived was five tiny industrial sweets, some packed in plastic. It felt almost like a joke, especially in Paris where even the most touristic cafés usually serve something fresh and charming with coffee or tea. The setting is elegant, but this experience was far below expectations. Sadly, I can...
