The food is very good. Old fashioned , in a nice way, beautifully prepared and served. Some difficult to find dishes here that hark back to the days of the great sauces used in classical French cuisine. So why the poor rating on service you might ask? Well, because we got taken by our waiter at the end of the meal. We were well fed, and happy, and had some wine. So, when he brought the bill it seemed ok too. but then he said, there was no service included!!!!! And presented a form to tick, adding a further 15/20/25%. We were confused and slow on the uptake. In my head was the thought that service is ALWAYS included in France. It may even be the law? I didnt want to start arguing, and got hustled into a further 20%. But it rankled, so , on the way out I asked another customer who was French, is the service included in the bill? And of course , he said Definitely its always included. I didnt want to go back to the cash register and argue, so we just left. But it left a bitter taste in our memories. So if you go for the food, be careful of the "sting" when the bill is presented. I'll be writing to the appropriate Tourist Office of Paris, and the consumer affairs at the Mayor's Office too...
Read moreNice ish place with proper fabric tablecloths. The Happy Hour was OK despite de drinks being very diluted. The weather was good and the atmosphere quite relaxed so the 2 of us decided to dine in.
The Landes chicken was made of a small chicken thigh served with my choice of green beans for €27. Outrageous given the portions and level of (basic) elaboration of the dish. The other menu was a steak tartare, generous but tasteless.
The reason why I am particularly unhappy about this meal is the quality of the wine. The 1st glass was a Saumur Champigny which was bitter, acidic and undrinkable. That glass was sent back and replaced by a glass of Hautes-Côtes de Nuits which was as bad.
The waiter did not appreciate the negative feedback regarding the wine and adopted a rather arrogant attitude towards us. Additionally, the size of the wine was simply misrepresented.
When in France, the minimum expected is a good glass of wine. Sub-standard wine is simply...
Read moreI am on a trip I came in with my colleagues for dinner I was welcomed by a very friendly and nice waiter. Throughout the service the drinks came quick so did the food but the cook on the Cote de beaf was terrible even the table next to us complained but we didn't say a word. Here comes the tricky part after the food arrived a colleague of mine asked for the wine list the waiter came and gave him the wine list before we chose he started suggesting wines the most tricky part is he suggested a very expensive bottle which was by the way amazing with the food but that amazing waiter suddenly started to act as one of the tricky sales people at ferrari 😀 he spoke with a very classy accent we wanted to spend 200to 250 for 5 people that bill went up to 500 . The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star is just because of this. But I will definitely come back because it was an amazing night loved it. Thanks to...
