Ok, this restaurant has become one of my top three I’ve ever eaten at. I’m in my late 50’s, I’ve travelled my entire adult life and been around the world a few times now. This restaurant, Le Petite Pantheon, is just ridiculously good. The owners, husband and wife, are incredibly welcoming and hospitality is not missing. I was greeted with a smile and human warmth. He suggested the first course of salad and terrine which was really large actually. Terrine made in house, don’t forget what I said, as it was amazing. Plus the entré rotisserie chicken also made in house. No no they didn’t raise the chicken in house(ha ha) but was prepared in house. Add to this he opened a bottle of Saint Émilion in front of me, offered me to taste it then poured my glass. It was fantastic to say the least. Once the main plate was finished I was offered a choice of crème caramel or chocolate mousse as a dessert. Remember what I wrote above “made in house”. Everything is made in house, nothing frozen, at all. The menu is small, one page, which normally means it’s going to be better food than a five page menu. Because if it’s small it means frozen is not part of the game. So here’s the kick, it’s his wife that is the chef and prepares all the food, daily. If I could give this restaurant more than five stars I would. I sat outside on the small terrace side of road and sat down at 9:45pm. Just an amazing dinner with amazing service and amazing food. Then comes the bill … 22€. You have to be kidding me, 22€, yes unreal for that meal with that wine and that service. In the 5th in Paris on a Friday night.
Read moreAll of the reviews had given this restaurant five stars and after a visit I question why. The restaurant is small and very friendly. The inside was somewhat untidy, pictures askew and clutter, regardless we came here to eat. We ordered pate, vegetable soup and coq au vin.as well as 50 cl of rose. They did not have the rose nor any white and I ended up with a bottle of cheap burgundy, no more said. The pate was good, the soup passable. The coq au vin was served in dark sauce, no mushroom, no onions, and it totally over powered the chicken legs and wait for it, the chicken backs, not thighs! It was dissapointing to say the least. To top it of they ran out of barguettes and choice to serve white sandwich bread, pathetic. To finish we had creme caramel, best part of the meal. The waiter, maybe owner was personable and friendly, other that that there was no reason to visit. As I said no idea why everyone else gave it five stars. Total bill was...
Read moreCannot recommend a visit in winter time - the place has a large “winter garden” in front (certainly nice in better weather) but only two heater panels which aren’t enough to properly heat the restaurant. I was lucky that the place was empty so I could sit right next to one of the two heaters - otherwise I would have left… Food was a mixed bag - adorable home-cooking style vegetable soup and the mousse au chocolate was very nice as well. The chef-recommended boef bourgignon (very beef-heavy menu btw., near impossible to avoid if coq au vin is out) was of good taste but the meat was of very poor quality. Maybe that’s what grandma does to keep the price low (this meal added 6 EUR to the otherwise incredibly low 15 EUR for the three-course meal). But I’d happily pay a bit more for better quality. Except one piece of meat the rest consisted of 50% grease. Super nice owner, very cheap. But...
