Les affranchis — Restaurant in Paris

I don’t often leave reviews but wanted to for this restaurant as the servers/owners(felt like they were, not sure?) were SO nice. My husband and I are your typical American tourists who unfortunately can’t say anything in French beyond bonjour. We were pretty nervous about trying to order in a restaurant. We interacted with three different workers here and they were all the nicest people and spoke incredible English. They made us feel so comfortable and were so friendly! After a few tourist-trap meals, my friend and I decided to try a nearby spot for dinner—and I’m so glad we did. I felt both happy and a little sad: happy because the food was outstanding (especially the onion soup and duck confit), but sad because we only discovered this place the night before our departure. I’ve tried many onion soups before and never enjoyed them—until this one. The flavors, especially the white truffle paste, were incredible. I only wish I had more room to try everything on the menu. Accueil déplorable et inadmissible. Arrival around: 9pm we only wanted dessert, hot chocolate and coffee (for 6 persons). We were requested to eat and drink in the OUTSIDE while the inside was practically EMPTY... The outside was cold (10-11°C) and clearly not the space we wanted to be at. The ONLY reason we stayed is because one of the girls in the group walked too much and couldn't walk much longer.
