We were greeted by a woman in perhaps her mid-thirties who seemed nice enough initially. We quickly caught on to her true attitude and mentality when we started questioning her about natural wines and her "métier" (the exchange was in French). Entirely legimate for amateur customers like ourselves. She obviously had a complex about her line of work as she quickly got all snooty, even telling us to look up "caviste" (wine merchant) in a dictionary when we asked what it entailed. Funnily enough, when we pressed her, she gave us a vague answer about meeting with vintners. She also dissed organic wines as inferior to natural ones, peppering her speech with vulgar and coarse language, but lo and behold, we spotted a few organic labels on some bottles on the shelves. What a shame for the owners as the shop had...
Read moreSmall beer/wine shop with a BIG selection. The bartender was so nice and helpful and chatted with us (in perfect English) about the store and beers. They have a few tap options and then you can open any of their shelf beers in the store to drink (or to take home). Being from the US it’s nearly impossible to find certain beers, so we splurged for the Cantillon and Westvleteren 12. Yes, they had multiple bottles of both! The cantillon options were not their more special bottles but it’s so cool to get anything from that brewery. Bar had lots of customers on a Wednesday evening. Great vibes, would...
Read moreWe had a hotel just around the corner, so we went here one evening on the recommendation of the staff from the Fauve brewery. I've never seen a place where the wide selection of wine and craft beer is nearly equal. The gentleman on staff was great, helpful and we had a great chat about the beer and got lots of great tips on specific bottles too. We then took some of them back to the hotel with us. We also sampled the beers that were on tap and it was a unique experience quite far from what we are used to from Prague. I definitely...
