Had dinner here last night with my husband. Food was amazing! The service left a lot to be desired however and the ambiance was lacking due to a flickering light right above our table and a noisy air conditioner (which wasn’t really necessary and wasn’t putting off much cold air). We ordered a bottle of the 2022 Sancerre and were brought the wrong bottle which was more expensive (slightly but the server seemed confused/frustrated when we said it wasn’t what we ordered). The wine we did get was very good though. We then both ordered the discovery menu (entree, plat, dessert) and got an accompagnement of the DanDan noodles which we asked to have with our plats. The food came out promptly and the duck roll entree was phenomenal. However the noodles were brought with the entrees instead of the plat so we had to eat them so they wouldn’t get cold but we really wished we had a side of noodles with our plats as it was just a duck breast with no sides or substantial garnish. After finishing our main dishes we waited over 30 mins for dessert which no servers around to order another drink as our wine was gone as was our water. After getting dessert we again struggled to get anyone’s attention to pay so that we could get home to our babysitter on time even with leaving over 2 hours for the meal. We love a leisurely meal but not when we don’t have anything to eat or drink for most of the last 45 minutes. Overall, food is amazing but not sure we’ll come back due to the overall...
Read moreFor our anniversary date, we decided to go for the "real" Chinese cuisine in a more western restaurant setting. Overall, I would recommend Madame Fan to people who know Chinese cuisine by "fried rice", "fried noodles" or "sweet sour chicken" etc and want to try something special. But if you've lived in China for a long time, you might discover that a lot of the plates they serve is cheap street food or quick meal in China, and for me it was a bit funny. For those who wants to try, I can say the taste is delicious and authentic, so go ahead! Plus, the Discovery Menu is a nice choice. We tried duck rolls, coquilles Saint Jacques, brochettes, and cod fish (outside the menu). The chocolat cake was also well done.
The service was very good, waiters are very attentive and some proposed to switch to English when he sensed that I was lost. They could keep your coat when you enter, but we didn't know.
The decorations are nice, they used colours to separate the space. There are more tables in the room than I thought, but I figured we had just enough space.
It was a nice experience, considering the quality of the food and service, it's...
Read moreAsian inspired hidden restaurant at the 17th arrondissement with nice atmosphere and great wine selection.
My husband and I went for the 7 course set menu without wine pairing. We got reservations for 8:30pm and when we arrived the restaurant seemed fairly busy, with a nice atmosphere all around.
I quite liked the menu, thought the food was nice, but the star of the show for me was the first dessert, I fell in love with the saffron ice cream immediately! So refreshing and unique flavour combined with the other ingredients! Chef's kiss!
Starters and mains for me were good, but I missed a little bit of texture. Everything is delicious, but it's quite a lot of creams and liquids.
Service was lovely, the 2 ladies took great care of us, they spoke English all the time, were very pleasant and great with wine recommendations!
Overall, my husband and I had a really great time there and I'd totally recommend and return to Fanfan, not expecting a haute cuisine, but a good menu with great value for money, and...
