✨ A Night at Mistinguett: Glamour, Entertainment & (Unfortunately) Forgettable Food ✨
If you’re looking for a dazzling escape to the roaring 1920s, Mistinguett—hidden at the top of the Casino de Paris stairs in the 9th arrondissement—is pure magic. From the moment you step inside, the Napoleon III-era grandeur sweeps you into another world: gilded mirrors, velvet banquettes, and an electric energy that feels like a secret Parisian speakeasy.
The real star? The entertainment. Acrobats twirling from the ceilings, cabaret performers oozing charisma, and cheeky comedy bits that had our entire birthday group laughing. It’s immersive, it’s over-the-top, and it’s exactly the kind of unforgettable experience you want for a celebration.
Now… the food. Sigh. I’ll be honest: I was underwhelmed. I ordered the gnocchi, expecting pillowy, comforting bites, but got a "reimagined" version that felt more like a culinary experiment than a homage to the classic. Was it creative? Sure. Did I wish I’d gotten the dish I actually craved? Absolutely. That said, the cocktails were superb—crafted with precision and flair—and the wine list felt thoughtfully curated.
Final verdict? 10/10 for ambiance and entertainment, 5/10 for the food. I’d return in a heartbeat for drinks and a show (maybe after a quick dinner elsewhere). If you go, lean into the spectacle—just don’t expect a...
Read moreI’d like to give 4.5 stars for this restaurant. The decor is amazing and the staff was very friendly, welcoming and well-organized. The food was also good, but just not special enough to make it 5 stars. We had the velouté as starter, which was very good and the presentation was stunning, and the tomato salad, which was a good but also simple dish. For mains the fish of the day was very well prepared. The carpaccio was maybe a touch to sour for me at times, but overall nice. We were less enthusiastic about the fries, which are so thin you might as well have a bag of crisps: the only taste you get is from the crust, not the potato inside. The tiramisu was disappointing. Like in many Parisian restaurants, it wasn’t really the comforting Italian classic, but an own version. This one was very simple and didn’t do it for me, it was simply a cookie drenched in coffee at the bottom of a tea cup, with mascarpone served on top of it. No layers, no nice texture and refined tastes. Despite this, the overall price-quality of this restaurant is good and we walked away with smiles on our face and still have good memories. Ideal restaurant to make an impression on your guests (date, friends, colleagues) without having to...
Read moreWhat an unexpected joy! I was looking for a restaurant to go to while traveling for work and found this near my hotel. The restaurant is upstairs from a performance space, so it was a little unusual to get to. But the moment you show up, it's clear you lucked out! The space is beautiful, colorfully decorated, and warmly lit at the same time. The food was delicious and gorgeous to look at. I'm not a mashed potato person, but I had the absolute best mashed potato mousseline in my life there. Extremely personable and friendly staff, while still quite efficient. As I was about to pay, the waiter told me "I'm happy to bring your check, but there will be an acrobat show in 3 minutes so it's worth staying for it." I did. The lights turned down and this acrobat came and did an acro dance routine, suspended from the ceiling, 10 feet in front of my table (lucky placement!) This was a highlight of my trip and pretty much...
