My 6 year old and I had an exhausting day of walking and got back to our hotel in the early evening and just wanted a quick dinner and get to bed for an early morning champagne tour. I was out of ideas so asked our concierge at the Hotel R de Paris (INCREDIBLE PLACE) and when I asked about the 2 restaurants directly across the street he said he did not hear the best reviews from other guests. He suggested we walk 5 minutes down Rue Clichy where our hotel was and try this restaurant. We arrived around 8 and the gentleman that greeted us was very nice and I greeted him in French and asked if he spoke English, which he did. I asked if it was alright to get a table even though we didn’t have a reservation. He said he could give us a table but he had a reservation already set for 9 pm. I said we would be quick. We looked over the menu and there were great choices of food and wine. Since neither my 6 year old son or I are big eaters so we split a fish dish. Damn I wish I could remember the name of it because it was HEAVEN! The vegetables were delicious, the salad was delicious, the wine the gentleman suggested to go with the fish was delicious and we devoured the entire plate! This place was so great that we went back a second time during our vacation and was greeted by the same gentleman. Again we didn’t have a reservation but he was kind enough to give us another table. We were seated next to an American woman on a business trip that said this was also her 2nd time coming to the same restaurant. She ordered the beef bourguignon and even though I no longer eat meat I wanted to inhale her dish because it smelled incredible. She said she came back the 2nd time just to have it again. HIGHLY RECOMMEND but be polite and reserve a table. We happened to be there earlier than most Parisians eat dinner so...

There was an entrance to this restaurant from the roadside, which gave us a side view into the kitchen. However, no front of house staff greeted us for a few minutes until we made our way to the front of the bar counter, where an older gentlemen with glasses finally noticed and greeted us. He pointed us at a table next to the entrance which no one was watching and promptly forgot about us for several minutes until I asked for the menu from another waitress, a young lady who also had glasses. She gave us the menu.

When we decided we were going to order the young lady waved the older man over and we told him our order, which was a single complete set (app + main + dessert) as we had eaten earlier and were not that hungry. He said people normally order for two, which we were aware of, but we said we were not hungry. I think he tried to say in his broken English that if he kept allowing this people would take up seats without ordering. I don’t think he understood that if we were required to order individually we’d actually order less food for each person, which would mean the restaurant would make less money. To say nothing of the fact that no waiter has ever tried to tell us how much food we are allowed to order, in Paris or anywhere else in the world.

Salmon was ok, Beef Bourguignon was actually pretty decent and had a nice wine taste to it, and the iced soufflé was interesting as I hadn’t tried anything like it before. My tastebuds may have been dulled by the poor service prior.

The irony is the best service we got was from a young apprentice in the kitchen who appeared to serve and clear up plates. He also alerted the waiters when someone was missing a menu.

All in all, a great kitchen with good food let down by poor front of...

I will never come back to this restaurant again!!!! Whoever comes here, please make sure you check your bill in detail and that if food seemed spoiled, don’t finish it. Yesterday, we came with a party of 7 including 3 children, when asking for the bill, it came in a whopping €270!!! I quickly verified the list of the items we ordered, and right away, I spotted that the restaurant had charged us triple the price for each Menu Enfant (kid’s meal) that resulted in more than €100 for the three meals we ordered. Then the Andouillette sausage I ordered was literally stinky in taste and powdery in texture (I ate this dish multiple times in different restaurants and I knew right away that something was wrong) …. I didn’t bother to finish it and stopped eating it right after the first bite and ordered a different dish. Then when we asked the server to clarify the bill, she pretended there was nothing wrong with the three order of kids meal. She also tried to charge me separately for the plat a la cart item as a menu dish. Right after our finding, the neighboring table also found errors in their bill. This is a dishonest business operation which didn’t happened by negligence or accident. Please stay vigilant. If I could I wouldn’t leave any stars at all for...
